This is partly inspired by me listening to Atmosphere a lot recently and partly inspired by Slumdog Millionaire ('cause I happened to be watching it when I started to feel like writing something ) Anyway, hope you like it. "When Does Life Look Up?" Fires in the doors of your homes, Along with a tragic death from a crossbow, But every death's tragic in its own way, Because pain like that just doesn't go away, And I've cried in the face of a girl, When she broke down and told me about her world, Cold trash cans and cash but no hands, To hold onto the life that her family could have had, Bricks split from flames lit and lunatics, But not hot enough to cement the mix, So the whole damn house melted down to the ground, Leaving mud all around the abandoned child. Since that day she's been feeling such lament, That she can't stop her gaze falling onto the pavement, So she lets her heavy eyes laze onto the floor, Filling with memories of when she used to be poor, But luckily, her luck did change, By a man that walked past her everyday, Went from loaning pennies to brightening her day, And then onto loving her and taking her on dates, He bought her fancy things and gave her self esteem, Fufilled her dreams and gave her everything, She said "yes", when he asked to marry, Because he loved her and she loved he. Sadly, in her previous life when she slept on the streets at night, To keep her head above water she worked for fiends and lowlifes, Now she worried past deeds she'd seen would haunt her dreams and these, Scenes she'd seen would ruin her dream of loving a man like him, But in the end, as things transcend everything's taken to extremes, This means that one of the fiends, after hearing of her fortunes change, Decided that he'd make a stand and claim back every advance she'd had, So with a gun in his hand, he went on his way to make everything bad. Next thing took a bullet to the chest, To protect his love from a bullet to the head, But no red fell onto her dress, Though she cried in distress from his shirts redness, She couldn't have been more upset, Almost drowned in the tears that have streamed down to her neck, He always joked that she loved him less, But now those words were his biggest regret, 'Cause she cried like a victim of theft, Her family was gone and so she had nothing left, Felt her heart turn blacker than jet, Put her hand on her body and felt the baby kick.
