People seem to care a lot and Id like to know people's opions.

The competition: Lana Del Rey, Sam Smith, Deadmau5, Linkin Park.

Someone brought up to me that Sam Smith is doing better than Linkin Park on iTunes. Being a Sam Smith fan myself, I just can't see him doing LP numbers. He will be big, he will be huge. He is on the comeup. But I'm from America and I only know that he is on the comeup here. I've never heard international people talk about him. I don't see him doing the best worldwide, I really dont, even though each country has its own chart I know. Also I just cannot see him doing LP numbers. Another point is that lots of people pre-order from Linkin Park.com whereas with other artists I'm not sure this is the case. However, I will say, that if Sam Smith's second album came out the same week as LP7 I'd be slightly more worried as I expect his album to make him huge.

Now that leaves Lana and Deadmau5. People bring up Lana's past album sales but people don't realize that Lana has become a lot more popular since then and will do quite a but if damage this time around. She is ahead of all 3 other artists mentioned in this thread in every online outlet for buying music that I have personally seen. She will do numbers, that is pretty much guarenteed. Wether it will beat LP numbers is yet to be seen. As for me, I personally think she does beat LP. To take it a step further, I Hope she beats LP.

As for Deadmau5, someone on another site also brought up him as competition. My immediate response was no when Deadmau5 was asked as if he could be a threat and I still think that. His album will not do that many numbers and his chart number will be irrelevant at the end of the day.

So for me, I feel it will end up like this:

    1. Lana Del Rey
    2. Linkin Park
    3. Sam Smith

Somewhere else down the line possibly at an irrelevant number: Deadmau5

What are your thoughts on this? Are there any other acts releasing albums that you think could pose a threat in the US or in your country? Feel fee to mention any artist you want!

EDIT: I should also say I feel LP dodged a bullet with Ed Sheeran's album 'X' being released the week after. Ed Sheeran probably would have beat LP.

Who is this Herbivore called Sam Smith? I suspect that he'll be too busy trimming his eyebrows to pose any kind of threat.

I would have suggested J. Lo again but remembered that she's not that popular anymore.

@Keyboard Sam Smith's songs have been charting well, like "Stay With Me". Stay with Me's consistently in Top 10 of iTunes, while LP's Rebellion and Wastelands are now in the verge of falling off the 200 area.

    Deadmau5 is irrelevant.

Sam Smith is very strong in UK but i think LP is bigger in US and in the most other big countries.

Lana Del Rey is very huge at the moment. She does good on iTunes. But remember the release of Living Things. Nobody thought LP would beat Maroon5 but it happened.
Linkin Park does 'okay to good' on iTunes at the moment. But we have many pre-orders from the LP-site itself and amazon for example. And we have the fact, that this album is for both old and new fans.

I dont think that the promotion from THP is really bad. The most important thing is, that every Linkin Park fan in this world knows, that we will have a new album out on June, 17th. Good reviews are important too, and they are ways better than for Living Things.

And Linkin Park is much bigger in europe than Lana Del Rey.

The hype for THP is much bigger than for Living Things or ATS.

I think LP can do it. Let's help them! Go soldiers!

Why Linkin Park releases albums in the early summer, I still don't get it. Everything right now is summer pop hits. December & January should be their months.

I'm not sure about the UK but I do know that Lana is beating LP on every site that I have checked and this is including Amazon.
