I was thinking about this yesterday and over the years we've had a lot of variations of the LPU CD. B-sides, live tracks, remixes, MMM... Cookies, and over the past couple years CD's comprised only of demo's & a few b-sides. What we've never had and what I'd like to see is a covers album / EP. They've been known to do covers live in the past: Wish, My Own Summer, Rolling In The Deep, I mean Chester pretty much has a side project only consisting of covering songs; but we've never had any recorded specifically for release. They wouldn't even have to do them overly professionally, I'd settle for a studio sessions type CD where they're just recorded in one take. I think it would be a great change of direction for the CD and a pretty logical step, which I would be excited about. The only other LPU CD I'd get excited about is maybe an unplugged / acoustic album / EP of some of their songs. What would you like to have as the next LPU CD?
I agree with you, a covers CD would be awesome. I'd also like to see some Reanimation-style remixes of the songs from the last two albums.
I think cover songs album would be an awesome idea. I would love a studio version of Rollining in the Deep for sure! Also I wouldn't mind a few more demos. Maybe some demos from ATS or even a new song or some b-sides.
I agree with all three of you. I really want a studio version of Rolling In The Deep! Reanimation style remixes, demos and B-sides would be awesome too. I would like a mixture of different things on there. I know MANY people enjoy instrumentals but personally I don't want there to be as many instrumentals as we had on the LPUX CD. An acoustic album would be interesting, they have been playing acoustic versions of songs such as LOATR and TLTGYA at the Summits so I wouldn't mind something like that on the CD. I don't ever have high expectations for LPU CDs so I'm not too bothered. However, it would suck if we get a CD of live ATS tracks though because we already have DSPs for that!
The whole CD should have 7 or more unheard ATS demos which won't be used for future releases, I was kinda disappointed that A Thousand Suns didn't have more full songs and that it didn't settle into any particular musical territory, this would be a great gift to the fans.
I actually don't like their rendition of Rolling In The Deep so I wouldn't want them to do it again haha
Digital Souvenir Package. You get them at LP concerts which allows you to get a recording of your show when it's available. (I'm not sure if it's still included in the ticket price or if that was USA tour only.) Also you can go to Linkin Park's site and download any past LP concert for a fee. I think an added bonus this year would be a LPU DVD. I would love to see a lot of the behind the scenes footage I know exist but we haven't seen yet. I know there was a longer version of the making of Minutes to Midnight released in a movie theater back when the album came out. Also I'm sure there is a ton of video from the A Thousand Suns sessions as well. LPU HQ, MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Yeah i'm with you on this, Meeting Of A Thousand Suns seemed way too short to me, I reckon they could make it twice longer with the footage they probably have, more making of stuff from M2M would be awesome too.
Shit I totally forgot to listen to that! On topic though, I'd like the next LPU to have covers, acoustic renditions of LP songs and remixes.
I'd like to see some remixes, maybe some indy artists such as the likes of P.O.S., Bon Iver, M83. I know Mike listens to everything so maybe he could get some cool people to remix and end this terrible streak they've had since Reanimation.
I'd love some more Demo Songs / B-Sides (I really loved Pretend to be / Across the line / Blackbirds / What we don't know and so on). It would be AMAZING to get Rolling in the deep, but I'm all for Unplugged as well. Just please not the Messenger again but something new haha
Pretty much want everything people have said. Maybe not so many covers, but more ATS demos. I guess maybe they didn't put many on LPUX because they never knew whether they'd return to them or not.
