I know there are threads about what your favorite songs are, but whenever I give an opinion, I give some info to back it up. I'd like to know what makes your favorite The Hunting Party song your favorite, what works for it. I'll give you mine The song that surprised me the most was A Line in the Sand. I was not expecting ANY of that. From Mike singing, than to Chester aggressively singing, then to the rapping, and back to singing. It was very diverse, from heavy riffs to the soft into and outro. And Mike said on Sirius XM that he felt like everyone gave it their all in the song, and I agree. ALITS is a great wrap up for the album and really gives you what LP is all about. I'd have to say that is is my favorite, though at first it was very hard to choose a favorite.
"Mark the Graves", because it's nearly flawless, it's experimental, creative, fun yet sentient. It's Linkin Park at their best.
That is impossible for me to do. 1: I don't know what my favourite is. 2: There's no reason why my favourites capture me so much other than that's how the human brain works.
I like pretty much everything in "Keys" but here are just a few elements of the song that I can actually word my opinions on to some degree Firstly, I love Chester's performance in the choruses. There are a lot of songs where Chester sings angry lyrics and stuff, but, on "Keys", he actually sounds like he's being pushed to his edge, to a real extreme, and I like that. For me, the emotion really shines through, and, unfortunately, that's not always the case in Linkin Park songs. I also like Shinoda's singing part, because he just nails it - it's right in the comfort zone for his range - and the nice harmonies that go along with it, and the way it all fits with the bassline underneath. I think that the instrumental is basically flawless - nothing about it that I could say I dislike. I think that the band really managed to strike the right balance between noise and melody. And I also think that the mixing on the song is great. Drums, guitars and vox all sound clear and crisp. I like the breakdown after chorus 2, the tense percussion and guitar line, and, also, the solo that bursts in after it is probably my favourite one on the album. I like all of the lyrics except for maybe one or two lines in the rap verse which I don't feel fit the general tone of the song; even though Chester made up that chorus on the spot, I can still find meaning in it. Lastly, I like that all these different, contrasting things come together in "Keys" to give the listener a lot of cool twists and turns and make a conventional song structure pretty interesting.
"Final Masquerade" Because I love how Chester sings it. I also like the lyrics and the instrumental, but my favorite thing is the melody.
Rebellion. Great Guitar Work, great verses and great chorus. This song is just amazing. Love Mikes singing part and how Chester comes in. This is great. Also with the bridge (what isnt the best about the song) and the last chorus (which reminds me a bit on the "One By One by One" part of IMR) is a great closing to the song. All in all a great song. 6x great
Definitely agree with Tony's full explanation on why Keys To The Kingdom is a favorite, but I unfortunately cannot pick a true favorite between KTTK and Final Masquerade. Final Masquerade works itself around my playlist quite a bit and I often find myself replaying the tracks over and over again, always willing to sing along. All of LP's albums seem to hold a song that shows the heart and soul of each album [IMO being OSC, Numb, WID, WFTE, COG] and usually another track that demonstrates the most meaning [based on how well people relate to the track or level of popularity of course]. I think out of all their discography, this is the first album where a song holds true to both those elements. Final Masquerade is a beautiful ballad, possibly their best, retaining elements from some of their previous tracks [e.g. LOATR, RU, POWERLESS] and introducing that raw sound for this album, with highlights shown across the board. - Vocally: We all read from first reviews of the track that this was a song Chester showed great feeling and range in which certainly did not lie. Chester sings his lungs out in this song as if he were telling a story that had actually effected him deeply, a genuine sense that we don't always feel from the band. - Instrumentally: This is catchy and hooks onto you immediately. With hints of Numb, What I've Done, POWERLESS and a variety of other tracks, the band goes all out displaying Rob's amazing drum skills build up with intensity and Brad's beautiful sounding guitar riffs with a ghostly feel in the first verse and bridge perfectly combined with Chester's vocals. - Lyrically: Personally, this one hits me hard, only happening a few times [with BTH and LOATR]. Most people, including myself, associate this track with relationships, in my case feeling betrayed in the exact ways told by the band. On separate occasions for others, going as far as having people relate this track to family members who passed away even tho they said they'd always be there for them. The wording combined with the the vocal delivery gives off a powerful message with true meaning. The band perfectly succeeds in connecting with many of their fans.
