What if they add Roads Untraveled in the Ballad Meledy?

It would sound awesome. Especially, the last verse. Opinions? What do you think should be added or should it be kept like this? Sorry for my English.

I do actually think that a new Living Things inspired medley would do wonders for the setlist. Get rid of the old ballad medley and throw in Castle Of Glass/Roads Untraveled/Powerless. Of course now someone is going to tell me how that's impossible due to BPM or some reason but I think it would be amazing.

    - Verse 1/Chorus 1 of Castle of Glass
    - Bridge/Outro of Roads Untraveled, fading into the piano of Powerless
    - Final chorus/Outro of Powerless

I agree, I'd love to see that. But of course a know-it-all will shortly be here to tell you something along the lines of "the time signature isn't right!!1!"

Every idea that let LOATR drop is a good idea.

THIS IS THE FIFTH TIME I'LL TYPE THIS SINCE GOOGLE CHROME KEEPS SHITTING ON ME. ADD TO THAT A CAR ACCIDENT AND THIS POST HAS BEEN DELAYED FOR CLOSE TO SEVEN HOURS >.>

I'm done. On with what I have to say.

I wouldn't think the time signatures would matter at all. They adjusted the tempos of the other three for the ballad medley. The thing that might make it challenging though is that the key of the LT ballads aren't close like LOATR, SOTD, and Iridescent are. Whereas LOATR and Iridescent are in the same key and SOTD only needs to be transposed a half-step (I think, it's either a half-step or whole), the keys for those three songs are all pretty spread out. COG is in C# Minor, Roads Untraveled in Ab Minor, and Powerless in F Minor. But I definitely think they could add Roads Untraveled to the current medley. It's close to the key and time sig of the current songs in the medley.

If any of you are interested in what a ballad mashup between Roads Untraveled and Powerless would sound like, just listen to this (@9:24)

The idea isn't impossible, just not likely.

"Roads" is in 6/8 rather than something like 3/4 or 6/4. I wouldn't call it "close". I don't know how you could reconcile the different tempos and the different time signatures.

The keys are close, though; only a semitone apart. Basically, a transition could work but it wouldn't really be smooth.

It would never happen because of how popular SOAD and LOATR. Those were pretty well-known, especially shadow of the day. Combining them the way they did was genius, and I would rather see the songs played in full for a half a tour each or something. Or more likely replace things like the Blackout intro and Robot Boy segment with one of them.

Honestly, I don't even like the ballad medley, (is COG experience in it? I like that alone) these are nice ballads that have a meaning and just mashing them up takes the best part of all the ballads for me.

Well , i really like the SOTH/Iridescent part, but LOATR is not good, dont like the song alone...

COG is a single song , not combined with the ballade medley :)

Was thinking of Powerless, which switches to 4/4.

In the case of "Powerless", Fm isn't so easy to reconcile with Am ...

In regards to Powerless, The time signature wouldn't be a problem, as I've noticed it's likely in 2/4 at 140 BPM throughout, as opposed to this 7/4-4/4 theory I've seen floating around here. The 6/8 of Roads Untraveled wouldn't be that much of a problem either, because the band can either stop the flow of the song with a held note and pick it back up in the new meter, or they could fairly easily do a hemiola pattern to blend the "three" feel of RU with the "two" feel of Powerless or COG.
As minuteforce and drpdrp have both said, the biggest issue would be reconciling the key signatures, but I'm sure they could find a way to pull it off if they wanted to. There have been stranger modulations in music than going from c# to ab to f#.

That's a valid way to look at it. I'm actually working on a 3/4-with-4/4-meter track at the moment
