"With Me Tonight", "Find A Way" and "Smother Me" by The Used on their next album? I'm addicted to Lies For The Liars album by The Used and I like how they mix up tracks that are fast and aggressive along with slow love songs at the same time. For some reason it works for them. I was wondering what you all would think if Linkin Park went in that direction. Can you picture lyrics filled with loving words instead of the typical Linkin Park lyrics we usually get? Would you accept it or would you write them off? Sure it would be way different but if they could pull it off, I'm sure something amazing could possibly take place. What do you all think?
I for one love the songs you mentioned, and as much as some people may disagree I would love a very strong love song from Linkin Park. No I'm not talking sappy 80's ballads, but more like songs that have substance..basically like the ones listed above by you. I for one think "My December" (a love song) is one of their very best songs, and therefore it would really rock my world to see at least one or two songs like that on the next record, even if they are hard rock and not the style we've got on MTM. Awesome points Andrea.
I don't think anything is out of the question at this point. I think Chester's divorce played a roll in MTM lyrics being dark and whatnot. Him getting remarried might inspire him to go in the more loving direction. I agree with Derek, though... I hope he's a bit more subtle about it then some 80's power-ballad. Lord knows they don't need to sound like Warrant.
A lot of people have this opinion that making a love song automatically makes you 'soft' or a 'wuss'. Thus is not the case. There are many songs out there that are hard as shit, but have a loving message behind them. That's why I look forward to seeing if LP can do that the next CD.
If there are any songs on the next album that actually sound like Warrant the rest can be completely terrible for all I care.
one of my favourite love songs at the moment is killswitch engage's "the element of one". so i get your point.
Find me truly crazy, but after some of the songs on MTM. I can so totally see LP pulling off a cover of Coldplay's "The Scientist" and actually doing a great job at it. That's just me of course.
The only real problem that I have with love song is that sometimes they can become too explicit and revolves more around having sex with someone than actually loving them.
I love those songs too but I don't think I can picture LP singing a love song lol. But who knows, before MTM came out I bet half of the fanbase didn't even think that a guitar solo/acoustic guitar would fit in in a LP track. What I believe is that, the possibility of love songs will largely depend upon the 'sound' of the next record.
Define love song though, really. Theirs a lot of heavy, insanely, angry songs that are also love songs in their own way.
