History would show that maybe 75% of an artist's first released single is the 2nd track off their album. But yeah I wouldn't mind LP bucking the trend on this one.

I think the whole "moving away from who we used to be" message would make the most sense at the beginning of the album, so I would say if there's an intro then this would indeed be track 2, but if there is no intro then it will be track 1.

One Step Closer was the second track from Hybrid Theory, Pts.Of.Athrty was the second one from Reanimation, and Somewhere I Belong was practically the second track from Meteora. Even though it was the third, it was the second full song from Meteora, as Foreword was just an intro.

I have just completely stated the obvious.

why is it a "track 2 curse"? Nothing bad happens to people when the 2nd track is released. Maybe it's like a "track 2 current".

a "track 2 current" is the idea that everyone releases their 2nd track as a first single so they go with the flow, follow the current so to speak.

i would hope this track is the ending but then again there are also reasons (stated above in other posts) why this may be earlier on but linkin park has always been different than other bands and artists so maybe it will be the last song who knows

I read through the last couple pages of this thread and I've got one comment to make:

You're all defending the clip from being "emo" because you don't like hearing someone call your favorite band (or a band you like) "emo." I know because I do it all the time with bands I like that people call "emo" all the time when they're clearly not at all. Sunny Day Real Estate was emo. Fall Out Boy is NOT, and neither is this damn clip.

There's no use in arguing over it because people are going to label it what they want, when they want, whether it's right or not.

The clip is reminiscent of the "emo" that's being played today. If you don't think so, you're obviously just defending the fact that people are calling LINKIN PARK "emo" when they've never been called or associated with "emo" before.

It's not all-out "emo" but it's in the same vein as the "emo" that's being played on the radio today. Sure, it's not exactly like it, but it's in that same vein. One could even go so far as to say it's Linkin Park's style of "emo." But no matter what, if someone labels it "emo," then it's probably "emo" to them, whether it's "emo" to you or not.

Basically, don't argue about whether it's "emo" or not because you're not going to get anywhere.

And try not to make anyone feel like a complete jackass by saying they're dead wrong when they say they think the clip is "emo," because that's not how you argue.

Major in argument and you'll find out.

At any rate, I don't think it sounds bad, but it's too soft for me -- for a Linkin Park song, I mean. But with other people, I've got a feeling this track will be one of the last songs BUT IT WILL LEAD INTO JOE AND MIKE'S INSTRUMENTAL TRACK, and that's why it starts fading out. I DO think that's the last chorus, and it's slowly fading out.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe you're wrong. But NO ONE is going to know until April 2nd, so there's NO point in ARGUING over it now.

Speculate all you want, but arguing over it just makes you look stupid.

I don't mean to come off stupid but to ARGUE over it instead of DISCUSSING it is just stupid. If you don't agree with someone, don't get all "OMG WTF R U TLAKIGN ABOOT."

    Know what I'm sayin', guys?

I didn't mean to scare everyone away. I just wanted to come out and give my two cents on the arguments.

It's okay to speculate, but to ARGUE over something that's not even out yet is just irrational.

    *doesn't argue, states personal opinion*

I don't see how what we've heard so far is any form of emo. Doesn't make much sense to me.
