It's that time of the year where LP is in the making of their next album, as us fans have no clue what to hear on LP7. But we can only guess, Will LP7 be a heavy metal album, maybe some more hip hop, electronic, dub step? Back to the rootz? What do you think LP7 is gonna sound like?
If i had to say something, i would say something funky... could be pretty cool. Had the same idea for such a thread And no, there will be no Nu Metal album ever again
Honestly I don't see them going any heavier than THP. I'd imagine that we'll get a "Living Things 2.0", not in terms of sound or style, but in terms of direction. Meteora was about proving that HT wasn't just a fluke, MTM and ATS were about proving they could do something more than Nu Metal, and to a certain extent THP was the same, proving that a mainstream rock act could release a heavy album in 2014. LT, on the other hand, was when the band had nothing to prove, no one direction to pursue, and just made whatever music came to them. I see LP7 following a similar route, albeit inevitably with a drastically different end result. Basically I don't see them releasing something purposefully alternative and unusual (ATS), or purposefully in one particular style (THP). I hope I'm wrong about the former, I think the band should keep pushing themselves!
Mike said he feels the band has their best work in front of them. Tbh, I think what ever LP has next is going to be something ground breaking for the band. I just have a feeling were going to get something really special. I don't try to think of what genre or style it's going to be in, because it could be many different things as we know LP are so good at blending. One thing I know for sure is, what ever direction it's in, is the direction the band is meant to be headed in. A road untraveled (pun highly intended)
.....I think, they'll do something radical. Mike is the only man standing behind his instrument, where the other guys take lead vocals like vocal group....
What about Dave being the only one behind his intrument, while the other guys take lead vocals like a vocal group? -- Well, I would like a progressive rock album, but funk would also be nice :O
Just like how they fucked up a pseudo-concept dystopian album based on electronic music? And then followed it up by fucking up folk music? Sure.
Well, in terms of sonics and production, I'd say that "A Thousand Suns" wasn't too bad. It's Linkin Park-level musically/compositionally, but, really, we all knew that that would be the case.
