Finished reading Twilight a few days back. It didn't really live up to my expectation. The bigger part of the book seemed dull. It got a little interesting towards the end, with James and all that. Nonetheless, I believe the rest of the books in the series have more to offer, so I'll read them. Btw, I'm reading Dearly Devoted Dexter by Jeff Lindsay at the moment. It's great!
Actually, this book has a picture or two every other chapter. Still... it's almost 900 pages. You can kill someone with the damn thing.
I was reading The Hobbit but I stopped when my friend let me borrow Eragon; it's not that good, so far at least. I'll finish The Hobbit when I'm done with Eragon; then I'm going to start on The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel after.
I've been thinking of reading The Alchemyst too. Has anyone here read it? I could do with some insight regarding the book before reading it.
I bought it based solely on the reviews I read about it. Nicholas Flamel was a real man, but he was never highly regarded as an alchemist while he was alive. A long time after he died, some legend got started about how he never really died, about how his tomb was empty and about how he created an elixer for immortal life. It's claimed he created the Philosopher's Stone (yes, the one J.K. Rowling wrote about in the first Harry Potter book).
Yes, me! I read it. It went a bit fast and at times it's even a little childish but hey, Harry Potter was like that too in the beginning and look at how that turned out to be. I really liked it though. I really want to read the next book but they don't sell them over here, apparently they only sell the first book so people can be frustrated afterwards.
I haven't actually read it, but I'd say it's awesome just for having been written by someone called Michael Scott.
Hehe, I sent him an email asking why it's not available in so many countries cause it really is frustrating. It says he always responds on email so...hopefully in a few weeks I'll have my answer. The Magician I mean.
I didn't finish this because it's so overwrought and boring. Right now I'm reading through After Dark by Haruki Murakami, as well as The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon.
