The song is immediately available for download FREE on Fort Minor's official site FortMinor.com for one week only and is available for purchase on iTunes here. Unique merchandise including a extremely limited edition collectors vinyl custom painted and drawn on by Mike for the 360 Degree "Welcome" music video will be available for purchase on June 22nd. The mysterious 360 degree music video will also premiere sometime tomorrow on the 22nd as well. As of this moment, "Welcome" appears to be the only known brand new Fort Minor song set to be released with no album or EP to follow. Within the hand written note, Mike Shinoda explains that he had not consciously intended to write new Fort Minor songs, however, "Welcome" simply came to him and "just kinda happened." Even though it is not a part of a larger collection of songs, Mike felt it should be "shared with people." The interplay on social media between Mike and the Fort Minor social media sites represented a visual manifestation of Mike Shinoda's decision to return to Fort Minor and release "Welcome." Read the note below for Mike's explanation of the lyrical meaning of "Welcome" and the original purpose of Fort Minor. [thumb]http://www.lpassociation.com/upload/images/062215-033554_WELCOME.jpeg[/thumb] This single song acts as a welcoming to Mike's hip hop history and individualism nearly ten years after the original musical endeavor debuted. The song welcomes an unique and different take on The Rising Tied's more classical hip hop elements by introducing the newer musical nuances that have since populated hip hop during the last decade whilst retaining Mike's own unique twists on synthesizers, production, and rap + singing. The song responds to what perhaps is an acknowledgement of Fort Minor's disappearance since its debut album in November of 2005: Though this may be a late and short lived return, Fort Minor fans must be excited for the out of nowhere return of new Fort Minor music. Though social media sites and rumors have been circulating amongst fans since February, activity only began last week within the corresponding social sites. This rapid engagement and announcement of "Welcome" beams nostalgia and perhaps a seam of hope for a full album return of Fort Minor. What do you think fans? Are you in need and ready for more Fort Minor? What do you think of "Welcome" as an opening to perhaps Mike's return to Fort Minor? Let us know here in the LPA Forums! HIT THE JUMP FOR "WELCOME" LYRICS[jump][/jump] Code: Welcome / Yeah it's been a long minute Let me break it down now if ya'll still with it First time I did it, yeah I'll admit it I kinda hit it and quit it and left ya'll hanging Singing / kinda off key with a passion Asking / can I give you back that action Yeah imma blast in a hashtag fashion And spell it out for ya like a mass closed caption Get a closed casket / fade to black This is my spot that I'm taking back Get at me punk / I was made for that Ya'll don't really even know what you're aiming at So far back what'cha waving at Ya'll can't see the stage that I'm playing at And ya'll hating that But that’s why I do it So tell me where the muthafucking haters at I don’t need their blessing now I don’t need their invitation Ain’t no way to shut me down Or to take this path I’ve taken And maybe I’ve been left out But never let this be mistaken They can keep their blessing now Forget me now ‘Cause I was never welcome Yeah it's been a long road Never really know how it'd all unfold I'm just trying hard not to sell my soul when the Rest want guns and a mouth full of gold I don't hate em / I still love em That's not me / I'm not judging Not below em / I'm not above em But disrespect me? So he's gonna play Conan for a free song with no album forthcoming? That's a bizarre move. I'd still bet money a Fort Minor album comes out this year.
Apparently you added the picture of "HELLO" to the FM Conan News Post and a bunch of people were trying to get you to center the picture and you never did.
Ehh... no? Joe wrote that post. And I have not edited it, but I do see that the "Hello" image is not centered. I know how the center tag works.
/shrug someone mentioned you in the Conan thread, so I went with the logical Minus thing and called you out on it. In any case, CENTER THE PICTURE.
It's on. You wanna set the terms? If I lose I buy you an amazon gift code? Does that work if I'm in the US and you're in Aus? Pick my avatar for a year?
Deliver a cover of this song on YouTube. On the flipside, I'll deliver a cover of an LP song of your choice, depending on my abilities.
I'm sad it's the only song. It's pretty good. Just bought it on iTunes before I knew it was gonna be free for a week. Also pre-ordered the bundle too.
this is extremely awsome. welcome back mike shinoda. haha. yeaha i love the song its good sounds fresh for fot minor i love that drums and that synth thing! i cry now!
DON'T STOP ME I'M GETTIINNNGGGG THE VINYL Edit: I sort of agree with Xero21 in that this campaign is way to big for just one song, even though it's the first release in about 10 years. On the other hand, I'm also not keeping my hopes up for a new album. Maybe a TRT re-release or something.
