I can't help but notice the lack of a 'We Major' thread. So anybody heard it? It's pretty awesome. The highlights to my ears were probably Bloc Party, Bleach, Spraypaints and Ink Pens, Be Somebody, All Night, and Cover and Duck, but the track of choice for any LP fan is the 'Nobody's Listening' track which is remixed to the sound of 'No One Knows' by QOTSA, one my favorite songs. 'All Night', is probably my favourite track on the tape, with samples from the Rush song 'Tom Sawyer', which I've never heard, but it lends a kind of dark electronic edge to the vocals that makes this song stick out in my mind. Also worth mentioning is 'Be Somebody'. The lyrics of this song will really speak out to anybody who has ever dared to dream, and it's about people who would attempt to stop you from reaching whatever unrealistic goal you may be aiming for.
I had it, but I have since lost it, and I don't know where to get it back at, nor have I looked extremely hard. (I'm sure it's on the demon, but I haven't even bothered looking. .. I don't think OiNK allows mixtapes.) EDIT: Nevermind, OiNK has it. I'm getting it back.
I love We Major. I think in some ways it's actualy better than The Rising Tied. My favourite tracks on the disc are: - 100 Degrees - Bloc Party - All Night - Bleach (Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe Remix) - Spraypaint and Inkpens - SCOM - Dolla
Unlike TRT, which is mostly "dark", We Major is more fun. That's the thing that I like the most about the mixtape. Morever, the rhymes in We Major are more complex (not that I hate the rhymes in TRT) Favourite tracks (not in order): -Intro (coolest intro ever!) -Nobody's Listening (DJ Green Lantern remix) -Bloc Party -Cover and Duck -Get It -Dolla -All Night -edit- -100 Degrees (how could I forget this?!)
All Night and Spraypaint and Inkpens are plain amazing Spraypaint should have made it onto TRT i think.
Yea. Spraypaint and Ink Pens is awesome. I wanted to single it out in my first post as I did with Be Someone (which is now in my sig) and All Night, but I couldn't really single out hwy it was cool, it just is. Plus I like the feeling you get when you listen to Cover and Duck. It feels as though you've just listened to something long and epic. I also like S.C.O.M. but past the Sweet Child of Mine sample, I don't think it's that speacial. Bloc Party is aweosm too.
You know it's called Be Somebody, right? For me, it's all about Cover and Duck, Spraypaints and Ink Pens, Bloc Party, and Bleach. Nobody's Listening remix... I didn't feel it at all. I think it's probably the weakest track on the mixtape. I mean, at least do new verses that don't suck.
I have had that mixtape, and listened to it a lot, but I have yet to hear the proper version of this song. I wonder if it's on my copy I just got today..
I loved We Major. It has more of a street and rawrer sound then The Rising Tied. However, both albums were amazing. I'm really surprised Spray Paint & Ink Pens didn't make TRT. That is probably Mike's best song.
Did the mixtape ever come out without all of the random skips and stuff? I know a few songs did without DJ Green Lantern's crap, but did the entire mixtape ever? I hate when it will randomly stop and spin back a few lines.
There were a few people who just edited the audio to create no skips. Get an audio editing program and it should be pretty simple to do. I know I did.
What's We Major?...sorry...but...I have absolutely no clue what it is...I'm guessing it's a sort of B-sides for TRT?
We Major was released as a promotional mixtape prior to the release of TRT. It contains mostly sampled beats, mixtape-style verses and overall better performance rap-wise by everybody.
oh....so...was it ever released like TRT or was it just a sort of 'download-only-thing' ? ....If so then I'll go look it up somewhere
Due to heavy use of samples or other peoples' beats in mixtapes (and since they're just promotional), mixtapes usually are never publically released except for a few local stores (but the RIAA is cracking down on those...) So it's up for download.
