I know Casey made a thread about this, but it was awhile back and I figured that with the movie only a couple weeks away, now's the time to bring it back. Plot: A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, the film is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" -- which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union -- is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion -- a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers -- Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity...but who is watching the Watchmen? Trailers: http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/watchmen/ I'll admit, I haven't even read the novel yet. I figured that with now, it would be kind of useless and that I would rather just go into this movie with a clean slate and then read the novel at a later point. So. Discuss. WARNING: I'LL BE DAMNED THAT IF THIS ISN'T A SPOILER THREAD! CAUSE IT REALLY IS! So...notice.
I'm so ridiciously pumped for this movie that it's not even funny. I think it'll outclass The Dark Knight by a mile, personally. It's the Citizen Kane of comics/graphic novels, and by all accounts it's going to live up to the quality of the book. So, so, so psyched.
It seems pretty interesting. I think I tried reading parts of the strips when I was younger but most of it went completely over my head, haha.
I've been keeping myself updated with latest news regarding this film for a while now. I probably would have given the novel a shot but since the movie is so close to release I'll just watch the movie.
http://www.empireonline.com/reviews/reviewcomplete.asp?FID=11018 Empire review + comments hahaha, I just realised that Malin Akerman is the actress who played Freakshow's wife in the first Harold & Kumar film.
She was also Ben Stiller's disgustingly kinky and weird wife in "The Heartbreak Kid". So, it opens in 3 days. I just watched the HBO special on it this morning. I'm very, very excited for this.
Me too. Although I haven't really seen any behind the scenes stuff. I figured out I want to go into the movie cold. Even the director said that for those of you who want to see the movie yet haven't read the book, he said don't read it now. My translation...see the movie first, and if you think it was awesome, read the book and you'll be blown to pieces compared to it. Plus, if you want, Warner Bros. released a "motion comic" if you will of the graphic novel. Pretty cool but I don't think it would be the same as holding the graphic novel in your hands like I did.
i saw it last night with my gf i liked it it was kinda long but i didnt mind that too much i didnt expect to see so much of dr manhattan's penis lol other then that i liked it
My friend was saying it has his blue glowing penis in it quite a lot, I thought he was just kidding :\ lol Going to see it tonight so I'll write back here if I think it's good or not. Baring in mind I have never even heard of 'Watchmen' before in my life so I'm going to see this movie based on visuals and script not 'relation to comic book' kind of thing.
