Hopefully this will be released in full soon. Odd they'd play it live so early AND have a preview on UFC. Any hope left for that iTunes countdown thing?
I'm liking this song a whole lot more than Until It's Gone. It's got a When They Come From Me vibe which is one of the most underrated songs by the band.
(I'll preface this by saying that I already agree: the heat in this thread is somewhat unwarranted) That being said, enough people in this and other recent threads have voiced opinions which dance around the "I wish LP would x.." type of bent that this bears saying: The BEST and in fact ONLY type of music that Linkin Park (or any artist/band for that matter) should make, is: Whatever the hell THEY damn well please! Not the fans. It doesn't matter what we want/prefer/demand/whatever. It doesn't matter if they COULD do something you or I or anyone thinks would be better. It doesn't matter. The absolute WORST thing Linkin Park could ever do would be allowing any of our complaints to have an influence on their musical output; whatsoever.. or for that matter any of our positive feedback either. No matter what, a generic, predictable, simplistic song that an artist wants to make.. is better than the most imaginative, advanced, complex, experimental song that an artist doesn't. Hands down, every time. Linkin Park are telling us that this is the record that they wanted to make. Fair enough. Their choice. We're entitled to our opinions, but that's all. We aren't entitled to the musical output we want. If they were inspired to use heavy guitars, song structures, or other elements that some people dislike, or that are reminiscent of albums past: that doesn't mean that they're moving backwards.. it means that they wanted to. Good for them. I'll take inspiration over pandering to the fanbase all day long.
I really liked Wastelands, nice tune and I got really excited, but that Hip-Hop Medley by motherfucker Shinoda MADE MY FUCKING DAY! I hope that we get this song an official release, as a bonus track or whatever. I would pay for that for sure.
That'd make a hell of a lot more sense than whoever put "leave em layin' on the paper bank" on rapgenius. I think that's definitely what it is, and is paper bank even a thing? I have no idea what that means so I have no clue why somebody would even write that.
I doubt that if they would do a studio version of that unless it's a LIVE version of Hip-Hop Medley 2.0 then it seems plausible.
Yes, a live version seems more plausible and also better! Just imagine, Wastelands Single/EP 1. Wastelands 2. Hip-Hop Medley (Live from Rock In Rio 2014)
That one, and one for Wastelands were both posted on LPRUSSIA.com. Neat artwork, but legitimate? I highly doubt that.
"Wastelands" isn't even a single yet and we have sites posting single artwork. Also, that "Runaway" intro really makes me yearn for the more metaphorical stuff from Hybrid Theory. I mean, the chorus of "Runaway" is pretty cringeworthy and juvenile but that opening verse is great.
It's probably fake but the artwork seems legit for me. (I mean, it have the same visual concept of the album art) But it's very similar to Until It's Gone cover
