It sounds promising to me, a hell of a lot better than ALTNC. I'm excited to hear what the actual track sounds like, as the mashup is a pretty terribad.
I kinda liked it, the vocals were pretty cool but the rest was kinda forgettable, good thing the rest apparently isn't part of the actual song.
Chorus sounds generic, especially from the vocal aspect. Countless songs have this 'sing line in a lower tone then another sings it in a higher tone' dealio, and the instrumentation is made up of typical pop song chord progressions. Seeing as we are quite sure that chorus is part of the official version, and it is probably the high point of the song knowing LP's writing style, I can't say it probably isn't worth looking forward to the official release. To be honest I actually thought the Mall soundtrack was a bit more interesting as it had more thematic presence. I will say one thing though, it was refreshing to hear LP do something different, this sounds closer to the EDM spectrum than ALTNC, particularly noting Mike's voice as the song took off and the distortion on it. Steve Aoki doesn't seem like the best choice for a collaboration if they were going for something creative. If LP like the EDM direction I think it would be interesting to see what would happen if they worked with Deadmau5, Gareth Emery or Armin Van Buuren, the results there could be vastly more intriguing.
Considering Armin Van Buuren has done some decent stuff in the past and has collaborated with artists outside the EDM genre successfully, maybe not the worst idea. Example: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-dbT9tVCKc Though he probably shouldn't be the first choice
That said, I really dig the vocals and the instrumental that back them up. If the real studio drops live up to that quality, I'm definitely gonna enjoy this track a lot.
Perverse could perhaps be more exciting for us fans than boring and predictable. You never know Shinoda and Deadmau5 would be class, though. Could produce some of the best piano work dance music has ever seen
Not to mention Deadmau5 has experimented with his music a fair bit (note his album "While (1<2)" ) which would align well with Mike's tendency to explore different sonic vicinities in his song writing.
i couldn't listen to it because my speaker is busted but judging by the comments it looks as if this is gonna be a crappy song.
Totally not, it was a missunderstanding. Steve played a sample of the song which is really great mashed up with two other songs that are meeeeh :/
i just listened to the song.it's not that bad i mean we all kinda knew it wasn't going to be anything special and i don't agree with the people saying chester's vocal not being appealing on this song.he's probably the main attraction of the song apart from that the music isn't anything special niether is mike's vocals on this song.
I love EDM but I do not love this mashup. The vocoder melody is pretty awesome though. All in all, I'll reserve my final judgement until the song is officially released.
I'm pretty sure these are the lyrics: Don't you hold your breath Cause I'm not coming down The battlefields have left me only scars I'm floating in the dark I'm swimming in the sound Of voices that should never be apart Darker than the dawn(?) Higher than the sun This is not the end Your are not the only one Don't you hold your breath Cause I'm not coming down The battlefields have left me only scars The higher that they climb The harder they will fall And we will break their bones until they fold Darker than the dawn(?) Higher than the sun This is not the end Your are not the only one
