Well, it was a great video, but it wasn't the best. You can tell me I'm wrong, but I think a lot of you believe this is their best video just because its new and in the moment. It is way better than LITE's shitty ass video, but there are some complaints I have - video beginning drags out to long - Song beginning drags out to long - Don't really like how Mike's vocals are overpowering the instrumental by a whole lot when he starts singing - The boy's acting (his facial reactions are usually not believable) - Transition where the boy turns into a man could have been handled better (perhaps a fade in/out?) - The older version of the boy has a chin cleft while his younger self doesn't, first thing that stood out to me when he's older - Winston Churchill quote was shown for too long. I'd probably give this video a 8 out of 10
AWESOME Video!! Best video of LT so far, yes I know this post is SUPER late, but it was MUCH better than that LITE video. A few things: I HATE the new mix. The album version of the song was MUCH better, this was a flaw with Iridescent as well though. The kid thing a the beginning was far too long and dragged out, I wish more of the place were the band was playing was shown, as that looked super awesome, wherever that may be, the young to old transition thing was to sudden, and do my eyes deceive me or was clips of actual gameplay of MOH shown? that looked tacky. Oh and just to have a couple more rocks thrown at me, the new mix felt rushed. Overall 8 out of 10 for the video.
I like the video but it seemed a little rushed. Also, much like Iridescent, I really don't like the way the song was edited. Ruined the best song off the album.
Personally, I love the new mix. And also I'd go so far to say, this is my favorite Linkin Park video (at least the most meaningful). I don't mind that there are some flaws, this still remains as my favorite one.
I agree with the mix comments. Both this song and Iridescent have a better mix in their originals, the video versions aren't as powerful as the album versions. Still, love this video, best one we've had in a while.
Whoa, I really liked the video. It was a great mix of LP and MOH. I was expecting the MOH to be in your face but it was blended quite well. The game play was mixed in really well with the live-action stuff. The video is one of the band's best in quite a while. The recent ones were mainly focused on the effects. This one went back to being emotional and told a story. The video even gave me chills. I liked the new intro because it fit the tone of the video (although it was a bit slow). It'd be nice if they released this new mix.
I think it's great, but not better than WAITING FOR THE END. And is it me or the bass is higher than the album version?
Is it me or does anyone else think the camera should of been on Mike more in the parts where he's singing? Also I don't think they showed the band enough, solo clip wise. It was super fast.
Like Ginger said, I hope they do something like New Divide, having a MOH-less version Or at the least, keep the parts with the family, and remove the gameplay and words in the beginning and the end
The only real complaint I have against the video is how they changed around the mix of the song. I could understand if they used a radio-edit, but they didn't. A radio-edit shortens the song, but they actually changed the song itself (they even made it longer). I feel exactly the same with Iridescent. Other than that, the band's performance was great, the imagery was fucking awesome and I liked the story behind the video. 9/10 IMO
Hadn't thought about this, but sounds like a cool idea.. More band footage. Still love the video the way it is though, but I wouldn't mind an alternate version
Digital Domain did the visual effects. They did some of the CGI for Star Wars and Transformers so it makes sense why the effects are so good
