we all know how the media has said that violent video games contribute to school shootings, like columbine, and such. however, i have some input on the matter. instead of wasting time saying how video games contribute to things like school shootings, shouldn't the media be worried about how someone like the "serial sniper" or the guys who shot up columbine could have such little regard for human life? it all makes sense, and i'm sick of the media putting the blame on video games. it pisses me off.
games do contribute, but the games alone do not fuel their rage...at least for kids anyways. Maybe if the games were better designed in terms of when to use firearms and on who most kids wouldnt get the wrong impression...but millions of kids play violent video games, but only a few people take that into reality, there's nothing wrong w/ video games...yet...
my point is that the media — all forms — puts the entire blame on video-games. instead of putting the blame on video-games, the media needs to get an understanding of how someone (like the sniper) could have such little regard for human life. i understand that some games can contribute, but putting the entire blame on video-games would be like saying that water isn't wet.
I just saw Dateline tonight and it had a special on the sniper. They mentioned how the snipers had access to a videogame called Halo (as an attempt to make it sound like a rare game among murders by making it look like only certian people have access to it) and the snipers used it for practacing. BS. Out of the millions of people who own Halo, how many actually used it for target practice before killing someone? Maybe 2 or 3? The media needs to back off of videogames. There is no solid proof that they cause violence
Awesome, I have some people who feel the same way I do! At least, now I know I'm not the only one. .: Akuma-sama
Video games are a way to release your anger, you can go on the tv and kill some people, vent your anger and your done, rather than actually going out and killing someone. I dunno what i'm talking about, but violent games are cool
i agree. When Im mad at something, I just start up Vice City and stard shooting. Much better than me taking out my anger on an actual, living person. Just because 2 out of a million commit crimes due to violent games, they don't need to punish the other 999,998 people by attempting to censor and ban games and stop them from having fun
Video games being the reason of shootings?! My arse As for the Halo game...I know a couple of friends that have that game...and they haven't suddenly become serial killers! It's the media trying to find someone to put the blame on, because a story is pretty crappy without someone being blamed...so they seem to have to need to point the finger at the game companies... whats the point?
the only thing the media want is a story, thats there job. They couldnt think of a reason why people go on killing rampages, so they exploit the first thing that comes to there head, in this case video games. As Chester 76 said, video games are probably helping people more than harming. It is an easy and harmless way to release your anger. All you haver to do is turn it on, kill a couple of people, and turn it off. No-ones hurt. The media will do anything for a story, which includes LIEING
in games like max payne and vice city, they actually use the real guns. i love video game violence, i find it hilarious. being able to saw someone in half or beat them with golf clubs is so fun. call me a psychopath if you wish.
in all honestly, i find most games repetitive and boring. sports games and shooters are so easy to make; they only thing different about them would be the sport and the storyline of the shooter. almost all of them are alike in some way or another. i myself am an rpg/adventure type gamer. they're more fun and actually make you use your brain instead of just jumping out of a car and shooting a whore or whatnot.
i know that. Im saying that anyone can learn how to load a real gun by reading the gun's manual
And that's what's bad about our culture today. Easy access to guns.
And that's what's bad about our culture today. Easy access to guns.
I completly agree, if guns were abolished things could be a lot safier...
