Video Converter Help

Hi guys,
Is there a good file converter for video out there (preferably for free) that can convert almost any video format?

I've made loads of great videos/films at university/school that I cant play anymore due to the files being the wrong format/wrong codec - not forgeting the dreaded Mac>PC syndrome.

To be honest, I'm just sick and tired of all my media players giving me all these excuses, and no matter what i do something is wrong. I just want to play my videos!

I use Any Video Converter and it's great.

 

I usually do use google for this sort of stuff, but half the time I'm never sure of whats worth downloading, and what works the best for what i want.

Here's a nice video converter http://mp4-converter.info. It's fast and good for iPod video.

 

There's a really good one out there called media coder http://www.mediacoderhq.com/dlfull.htm . As far as I'm concerned, this is the boss of all media encoding.
