Would some one care to explain what that brainwash line means
Mr. Brainwash is a graphic artist in the vein of Banksy who doesn't actually do his art. Most pieces credited to him done by other artists under his employ.
I reckon LP are gonna go for a very nostalgic feel to their world tour for LT. Can't wait til they head down to Australia. Psyched.
I put /'s where I think Mike wanted to emphasize his syllables and rhyme patterns. These lyrics are the best guess I can make.
This is something for your people on the block to / blackout and rock to
Give you what you need like Poppa / who shot ya (uh)
Seperate the weak / from the obsolete / you meek
I creep / hard on imposters
And switch styles on the dime / quick wit it / ya'll quit trippin
I don't have time / for your cryin
I grind tough / sucka, make your mind up
Are you in the firing squad or are you in the lineup
Bang bang little monkey man playin / with the big guns only get you slayin
I ain't playin / I'm just sayin
You ain't got a sliver / of a chance
I get ill, I deliver / while you quiver / in your pants
So shake shake down / money, here's the breakdown
You can play the bank, I'mma play the bank takedown
And no mistakes now / I'm coming to get ya
I'm a Banksy, you're a Brainwash / get the picture
It's like that
I'm loving the vibe of this song. If it sounds so kickass with the WFTE beat, can't wait to hear what it's going to sound like with the beat it's supposed to have
I like the FACT that LP is using the melody of the WFTE intro and put a new rap-verse over it for the album version.
Watching the Rock im Park video and this is what I heard as well so I came here to check if anyone thought the same.
I've changed the lyrics in the first post up a bit, wanna see if you agree with them?
It's nothing big but I think "to meek" should be "Too meek". Unless that's a typo
Makes more sense if it says "the meek", but that might not be how it sounds
It sounds like a hard 'T' though, but at this point who knows what it could be.
"Separate the weak from the obsolete - too meek." doesn't really make any sense either haha
So here's what we have, also mirrored by OP:
This is somethin' for you people on the block to / black out and rock to
Give you what you need like "Poppa / Who Shot Ya?"
Seperate the weak from the obsolete / [the meek]
I creep hard on imposters
And switch styles on the dime / quick-witted, y'all
Quit trippin' / I don't have time for your cryin'
I grind tough, sucker / make your mind up
Are you in the firing squad or are you in the line-up?
Bang, bang / little monkey-man playin'
With the big guns / only get you slayed / I ain't playin'
I'm just sayin' / you ain't got a sliver of a chance
[I get ill and] I deliver while you quiver in your pants
So shake, shakedown / money, here's the breakdown
You can play the bank / I'm a play the bank takedown
And no mistakes, now / I'm comin' to getcha
I'm a Banksy / you're a Brainwash / get the picture?
It's like that
Is meek even a word?
It's a synonym for shy.
What he said. Plus they shall one day inherit the Earth...or something like that.
Here's a higher quality proshot video from Rock IM Park in case you guys missed any lyrics.
Awesome, thanks. And I'm now even surer its "too meek". Also, "I get iller..." instead of "I get ill and..."
So is this confirmed to be from Until It Breaks?
Mike had confirmed it on Twitter about a week or so ago. Plus it includes the lyric "I'm a Banksy / You're a Brainwash / Get the picture" which was revealed back in April on Complex.com.
