That is the problem with people reading reviews of other people's opinion and running with it rather than just listening to the songs and making up their own minds. I didn't know that was Brad singing. I was perplexed over that part on my first listen. I knew it wasn't Mike or Chester because i know their voices by heart. I thought maybe Linkin Park featured someone on their studio album for the first time and i never heard about it. Thank you for clearing it up.
Just want to say that Mike's swag meter is off the charts in the second verse of this song...so dope. Probably my favorite verse he's ever done. TBH, Brad's part seemed kind of off. Not that his singing was bad or anything, it just was out of place. I guess that was the point though, it's what we've come to expect from LP
I imagine a person is dragging a dead body singing this tune and then eventually dumping the body at sea because of the sound of waves and seagulls at the end.
I actually think it's very relaxing. I also like the lyrics ''We swim against the rising waves then crash against the shore''... It's very nice, cause I live 20 meters away from the sea.
I agree with people that the second verse goes harder lyric wise, but is it just me or is the instrumental part insanely intense after the first 'l-l-l-like that'? I guess its kind of a second 16 before Chester's chorus.
I hate Brad's part. However, the rest of the song is so fuckin awesome and that's the reason why it's my favorite song off the album. But Brad almost killed the song (in a bad way) for me the first time I heard it.
Well, from my point of view,I think Brad did an extra-ordinary job there The vocal harmonies are just great, and it also reminds me the end of Blackout.Where Mike comes in silently just after Chester spitted the anger I just can't wait to see Brad singing it live.
It's awesome. It feels like after all the swag, rage and power of Mike's verses, comes the quiet after the storm. I keep thinking of a person spitting on somebody else (Mike's rap) and after the fight is over, you realise it's like fighting something unstoppable or too stubborn (rising waves) and you are going to break (the body bends until it breaks) sooner or later. And you won't feel joy anymore (the early morning sings no more). This is how I see it, and it's a little f'd up, but this song is one of the best of the album
Brad's part is fantastic. To me, Until It Breaks tells a bit of a story. Mike's verses are bashing on someone, then Chester's verse is that person trying to find the strength to fight back, and finally Brad saying there's no point of fighting back; we go trough so much only to fail "We swim against the rising waves, and crash against the shore" and then goes on to say everyone has a breaking point so calm down and think about what's in store for the person bashing on him.
I had a weird dream about that. It was going backwards and in the end, he was smashing Phoenix over head with his guitar......so BBB is trying to kill the Bassman! *snickers*
Brad's part is awesome, but if he wants to continue singing on albums, he should only sing on one song per album like Ringo Starr.
One thing that bugs me in this song is : "It really doesn’t matter if you’re wrong or if you’re right ’Cause once they get their teeth in / nothing really fights" Am I the only one who doesn't hear any "right" at all. I always hear "It really doesn't matter if you're wrong or if you're wrong" which doesn't make any sense at all..
