I heard them earlier today, but I hate "Surfacing" now.

It's way, way too much like "Downfall" and I don't like it.

"Fold," on the other hand, is freaking amazing. lol.

Both songs are amazing, but I like Fold a lot more...

Fold is the better of the two, but I agree with Will on the similarity. I don't hate it, but I don't love it.

I think they are both pretty awesome, but Fold is the best.

I just wanted to bump this because I bought MVP Baseball 2004 today, which has the full version of Surfacing. After the minute clip, the song repeats the first verse and after the second chorus, the rest of the song totally breaks away from 'Downfall' into this amazing bridge you'll have to hear to believe it. Anyway, it is a great song after the minute clip, so if you are able to listen to the full version its worth it.

I'm going to be the odd one out and say that the music I heard in this thread didn't exactly jump out at me. Surfacing sounds like a cheap rip-off of Downfall in the beginning with the way the riffs are, and while Fold's verses are kind of eerie and cool, I'm not particularly fond of the chorus as I was hoping it would be sung more then screamed. It sounds like too much like old TRUSTCompany to me and I'm not going to eat my words when I say I was hoping to see more of a change in the music.

In all honesty, I hope the rest of TC's album is better then the two clips I heard, because right now it sounds like The Lonely Position Of Neutral Part 2. Don't get me wrong, I loved and still love their first CD but I don't hear much evolution at all except maybe the vocals are stronger and the guitar work is a bit better then before. Did Don Gilmore produce this album too? I wouldn't be surprized if he did. My opinions are backed by the fact Surfacing sounds too much like "Downfall."

The songs I heard weren't horrible, I never really said they were. It does kind of bum me out to be saying I wasn't completely impressed by their new music because I really liked them as a band. I just think they could have evolved more then they chose to.

Maybe I just need to give them a few more listens, I'm sure once their cd is released I'm going to love it.

derek, you probably didn't know, but trust company has sounded the same way since they started playing. the lonely position of neutral was a really glossy album, and they didn't like that. they didn't completely change their sound, but they did make it so that their new album isn't going to be as produced, so it's going to have a sound that's about as raw as their 2002 the album is almost ready ep. so, yeah, it's going to sound like tlpon, but not as produced.

Well that explains a lot, heh. I'll give these tracks a listen when they are fully released. Clips are never really that good of an example. You always need a full track to get the right idea.
