Can anyone suggest some good Trip-Hop / Nu Jazz / Acid Jazz songs and/or artists?

Also, would you be comfortable if LP had a slight influence from trip-hop on their next album?

Mm, yeah, they're good. I already have a lot of MA, Portishead, and Thievery Corporation though.

I know what you mean. A lot of the genre is saturated with about the same old thing. I'm looking for something fresh.

Try Hooverphonic, they're a Belgian band with female vocals. They're pretty good.

I too enjoy this music. I would, however, not like to see LP influenced in this direction.

Not all trip-hop/nu-jazz but here's the downtempo electronic shit i listen to:

    Amon Tobin (nu-jazz)
    Boards Of Canada (ambient)
Bohren & der Club of Gore (ambient/dark jazz)
    Burial (dubstep)
    DJ Shadow (instrumental hip hop)
    Four Tet (ambient/idm/whatever)
    Massive Attack (trip-hop)

Hope i didn't miss anyone. Eluvium is also reeaally awesome, he's like Ambient/Post-rock/Piano though, so might not be too similar to what you want.

Trip-hop begins and ends with Portishead.

I don't really know what the boundaries of trip-hop are, but last.fm tags DJ Shadow as trip-hop, and Entroducing is a very essential album. So i wouldn't say Portishead is the only good in trip-hop.

I wasn't saying they're the only good. For my money, they're the only good trip-hop that's worth my money (or harddrive space :p)

Well, personally i'd say DJ Shadow and Massive Attack are on the same level as Portishead, with DJ Shadow being more to my tastes at the moment.

Harddrive space is a problem i'm going to have to face in the near future. Only 9gb left of space on all drives right now.>_<
