I'd say I've got a top 4 which goes like this (no particular order) Linkin Park Deftones Thrice Nine Inch Nails Then, there are a lot of others, but I feel like it would be unfair to put some of them before others as I like most of the artists I listen to quite equally. What I want to listen to simply depends on what I'm in the mood for. Some serious contenders: Massive Attack, Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin, Portishead, Ministry, Machine Head, The Who, Radiohead, Notorious BIG, Lupe Fiasco
I have to break this up into groups. And I don't think I have a top 10 anymore, just really a top 5 in most categories. Favorite Bands: 1. Blink-182 2. Linkin Park 3. Imagine Dragons (may soon overtake LP though) 4. Oasis 5. Rise Against 6. MGMT Favorite Rappers: 1. Eminem 2. Andre 3000 3. Nas 4. Kendrick Lamar 5. Kanye West (not sure if he is still #5 but eh, thought I'd put him) Favorite artists: 1. Ed Sheeran 2. Avril Lavigne 3. Justin Timberlake 4. Taylor Swift (Probably forgetting people) Combined: 1. Blink-182 2. Linkin Park 3. Imagine Dragons 4. Ed Sheeran 5. Oasis 6. Rise Against/Eminem 8. MGMT Edit: had trouble deciding which spot to put Oasis in for favorite Bands

I listen to music on an obsessive level. I'd list favorite songs like a few have but that changes weekly.
Someone please tell me why this LP community seems to be so obsessed with Imagine Dragons? I am not even saying they are bad - they are alright - but they are literally one of the most generic sounding rock/pop bands out today. They have a few standout tracks like "Radioactive"(before it got overplayed) and "Demons" but overall IMO nothing special. These are the Bands/Artists that will always be on my favorite list: Protest The Hero Rise Against Linkin Park Enter Shikari City And Colour Karnivool Tool Aesop Rock Rage Against the Machine Runner ups: Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers, All time Low, Dream Theater, A Perfect Circle, System Of a Down, My Chemical Romance, The Beatles, Lost Prophets, Michael Jackson, Celldweller, Death Grisp, Nephew, L.O.C, William Fitzsimmons, Twin Atlantic and Seventh Wonder.
No order: Iron & Wine Death Cab for Cutie Mumford & Sons Mayday Parade Queen Simon & Garfunkel Vampire Weekend Billy Joel The Avett Brothers King Charles Fun Man, it took forever to whittle this down to 11. I can't go one more Edit: I can't believe I forgot The Antlers. They're definitely high up there.
I really like your list, especially the inclusion of City of Colour and Rise Against. And to answer your questions, people just have different tatstes. I dont think they are generic by all means. I started following them before their album came out, and Ive always liked what Ive heard. And they havent changed their sound to become mainstream either. Yeah, some people might be annoyed that they get overplayed but so did LP at one point. *takes trip back to 2002* I personally like the music they make and love the singer and his voice. They will forever be one of my favorite bands, and if their second cd is as good as their first, they could pass LP for me
Nirvana Linkin Park Mastodon Slipknot The Distillers/Spinnerette/Brody Dalle Korn 311 Gorillaz Nine Inch Nails Green Day
