Source: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1569960/20070918/angels_and_airwaves.jhtml According to Tom DeLonge, Angels and Airwaves is bringing about a music revolution...it's just going to take us another 29 years to realize it. 29 years? Sorry but I don't think AvA will be around 10. Much less 30. Even then, I don't think they're going to influence any bands to go the route they went. It's not like bands have never made films to go along with their music before.
He continues to amaze me with his bold statements. I think it's interesting how he didn't give up after the first record. I only liked The Adventure because it sounded somewhat like the return of 80's synth pop mixed with Blink-ish punk rock, but then again all the songs on that album sounded alike and it got boring, fast.
He's so modest. Seriously, though, if this guy had his head any farther up his own ass, he could give himself a dental exam.
The face of music will definitely change given 30 years, but I find it difficult to think it will be due to A&A. However, it wouldn't be tough for him to say "See, that was *my* revolution!" anyway and take credit for it I guess.
We Don't Need To Whisper was complete crap apart from a few tracks. If that kind of stuff is the future of music then god help the industry. Hopefully the new album will be better though.
There are actually a lot of rumours surrounding that at the moment. With Shane and Craig of (+44) being involved with other bands now and their pulling out of a load of gigs people are asking questions. Also, there's some AAA stuff which people have commented on. Can't remember what it was but a lot of the people at blink-182online.com seem to be under the impression that blink will be back next year. I heard one of the guys from Less Than Jake said at a gig that blink will be back in 2008 and there was also something about a big festival that was trying their hardest to get blink back together to play it. Who knows though...
If the industry was made up solely of bands who were trying to be U2 or/and Joy Division (Actually that doesn't look completely unlikely) they still wouldn't be revolutionary.
I'll still take AVA over +44 any day of the week. He overhypes them, but I still like their music. The couple of songs I've heard off of I-E have sounded good, too.
only happen if Tom and Mark get along again the song on +44's album called "No it isn't" is about B182's breakup and in interviews Mark has stated that he thought Tom should have been a man about Blink's breakup cause Tom doesnt wanna do that kinda stuff anymore..hence AvA but I-Empire sounds like itl be a SHIT LOAD better than We dont need to whisper because Everything's Magic is a great song Secret Crowds is amazing and the song in I-Empires trailer i think its called Heaven. i love just that clip of it
Tom never acted like a grown man about anything pretty much. And these statements he's been making about AVA really make me think of him as a white Kanye West.
At least he admits his faults. I mean.. some people think they're like really great because they were in some successful band and they were the lead singer and now they're going to do something else and they want everyone to think it's absolutely brilliant!
I'm pretty sure that in interviews Tom has had nothing but kind words to say about his former bandmates... it's those former bandmates that need to grow up and accept what happened.
No one should be saying who's the bad guy in all of this because no one but Tom, Mark and Travis really know what caused Blink's split.
i agree with you but Quote from Mark http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news...ould_have_been_a_man_with_blink_break-up.html when he says he should have been a man about it..he means at least be like "hey guys im just not feelin this anymore" or ..SOMETHING
