Many gamers can remember a time back in 1996, when a game by the name of Tomb Raider hit the stores. The game was met with rave reviews for its stunning 3d environments, innovative gameplay and for its interesting choice of a female heroine.

However; years passed, and every year sported a brand new title in the series with each game arguably being more bug filled than the last. After the 5th game in 2000, Tomb Raider went into the shadows for what was to be regarded as the "Next Generation Tombraider Game". The 6th installment in the series was intended to bring back the innovative flair found in the first game, and bring back a strong fanbase that was missing for so long. Sadly, differences from within Core and Eidos Interactive led to the game shipping far too early, leaving fans to play a highly unfinished, bug filled release that received scathing reviews and a negative response from many people from within the Tomb Raider community.

Shortly after, the gaming world was turned on its head by the announcement that Core Design, the founders of Tomb Raider, would be stripped of thier rights to develop Tomb Raider games from that day forward. The developing rights were passed on to Crystal Dynamics (creators of the Legacy Of Kain series) and later that summer, work commenced on what is intended to be the comeback of Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider series as a whole.

So because of this, it should come as no surprize that Toby Gard, the creator of Lara Croft and the original Tomb Raider has been signed on to work on the next installment of the Tomb Raider franchise. Toby, who left the series after the first game, will be signing on as Senior Designer, in the hopes that he will be able to bring back what the series has been missing for so long.

It should also be considered as interesting that the head of ION Storm has been rumored to working on this project as well. It seems as if Eidos is pulling out some severe gaming heavyweights for this project and it should be expected for a demo of the game (that has now been a year in the making) to surface at the next E3 in 2005.

I started to lose hope in the series, but hearing Toby Gard has returned, is really peaking my interest for the next game. But how about everyone else? Share your thoughts.

Tomb Raider 2 was the best, but I'll still be interested to see what he's able to accomplish.

I have never really been the biggest fan of the Tomb Raider series, although i still found time to play them all. It'll be interesting to see how the next one turns out after the not so good "Angel Of Darkness".

Your total lack of respect for the rules is ridiculous and because of that you are now banned. Not only did you necropost, you flooded this thread with over 7 posts of the same exact thing before I deleted them. Who cares if Lara used to go "Aha" when she picked stuff up, that doesn't give you the right to act like a child.

And to all the people who called him stupid or tried to undermine him (those posts were deleted as well), I must ask you to refrain from doing that from this day forward. We as moderators are more than capable of doing our jobs, and if someone acts up like this for now on, write us instead of trying to handle the moderating yourself. We own the right to yell at a member, close threads and warn/ban them because we have the power to do so. You however, do not and as the new rule states in the rule thread, making mocking posts towards rulebreaking members are not allowed.
