Glad to hear it. I'm just glad the Alchemy Series is done, it was good but I liked their non-sequential albums better.

thrice is my favourite band. i cannot describe the way plenty of their songs make me feel. the emotion behind the lyrics and most important their deliverance in a musical form is outstanding. watching the live dvd gives me almost constant shivers. to my mind dustin kensrue is a lyrical genius and an amazing singer.
really looking forward to "beggars". "all the world is mad" and "weight" seem to be great songs.

I'll only be tempted if it isn't the watermarked one people are talking about.

Yeah it's watermarked. It isn't too bad though. Only a three second voice clip once in each song.

I don't really agree with the alchemy index statement, as i very much enjoyed all of those eps. But yeah, the album is pretty amazing.

I didn't think that as a whole it was very impressive. There were some very good songs but I prefer more of a cohesiveness to my albums. I know they were trying to create a divide with each EP but I guess it was just too segmented for my liking.

I really am forcing myself to wait for the offical release. Is it as epic as Vhiessu?
And I'm glad they've finished with the alchemy index though, I didn't rate that at all.

In my opinion it is not as epic as Vhiessu, but in a way it's more listenable. I don't want to be pounded over the head by Vhiessu all of the time. It would be like, and this is a very loose comparison, Vhiessu is Meteora compared to Beggars being a couple notches above the QWERTY Studio Version in terms of production. It has a very 'in the room' feel throughout most of the record. Somewhere between Earth and Fire off the Alchemy Index without the constant bludgeoning of a concept album.

It's not a classic epic record, not full of crazy layered tracks, not a lot of studio trickery, no super crazy breakdowns. It's just good, solid songs through and through with the band playing their respective instruments and being damn good at it.

I love Vhiessu but this album has more soulful, straight forward songs. Five hard-leaning songs, four soft leaning songs, and the last song is kind of half and half to me. Pretty balanced.

    That's my long-winded take!!

The Alchemy Index is so much better than this in my opinion.

    I agree.

I'd say more one hard leaning song (Talking Through Glass); two soft songs (Circles, Wood & Wire) and eight normal songs.

To me it sounds like the Wind record turned into a full album. Not too say that its bad; at all. Its really good. Just not up to the lofty standard of Vhiessu or even alchemy index.
