I only drink expensive whine and eat the finest of cheese when listening to Pink Floyd, personally. When I want to kick back and chow down on some juicy bbq ribs, I listen to Limp Bizkit.
I'm not disagreeing, but that doesn't mean you can't use them for comparison. I've never really understood the point of cordoning off "the best" from "the rest", it's all music and I'd argue that it's all relevant in the right context. I think people sometimes get bogged down by the "this art isn't good enough to be worth talking about" mentality (you're not doing this, but I see a lot of snobs talk this way and it's really stupid), which to me is completely pointless and only hinders discussion. As if mentioning Limp Bizkit in the same breath as Mozart somehow takes away from the latter's genius.
What an absolutely ridiculous and downright stupid thing to say. That being said, this seems to be a common theme when it comes to anything you say
Okay first of all, I was using Limp Bizkit as an example of a band who never changed. It had nothing to do with their sound. Guess I should have used Phil Collins or Celine Dion as examples... sigh. As for whatever Minus was going on about: I said in chat that I wouldn't mind Linkin Park doing more ballady stuff, and wouldn't mind LP evolving (instrumental-wise) into a late Pink Floyd sound (Divison Bell era) instead of using commercial pop sounds, if they're going to go the easy listening route. ..and to "TobinKnowsBest" with the signature "fite me" (now on ignore) Try debating properly, and tell people WHY you disagree with them instead of throwing personal jabs around. It's hard to debate with someone who just says "YOU'RE DUMB" "I'M TRIGGERED" "DO U SUPPORT TRUMP" Jesus I've decided Heavy is okay....
Edited from original : In keeping in the same vein of "mentioning in the same breath" I had said something that I've since decided will just be polarizing, and I'm not trying to start anything. So I'll just leave it as saying this : I like Linkin Park's work more than Pink Floyd's. A lot more. I respect your opinion though, and I respect what Pink Floyd has done. I just find them a bit overrated, although that has a lot to do with how highly so many have spoken about them. Kind of like the more praise something gets, if I then go and try it and don't fall in love with it, it's hard not to feel it's more overrated than it otherwise would've been. For example I didn't watch Scarface for years, to the point friends were like "What're you crazy? Watch it. It's so good" and it got so much hype, that when I watched it and thought it was average, it felt even more overrated to me than it would've without all that praise. Though that's not entirely fair to the movie, I admit. It's just... human to not be able to entirely block out the expectations you walk into something with.
Just curious, have there been any info released on the mixer and other technical production for this album? P.S: I now understand why some really don't like to discuss on threads here in general; even when discussing on topics not necessarily related to the main topic, people get so uptight about other comments and opinions and throwing jabs at each other, subtle or not. Come one guys, lighten up!
As minuteforce said, this is SUPER irrelevant.. but no I don't support Trump, or Hillary. Politics is mostly a facade imo.
Nah. Much of that, we don't learn until the album drops. But there's still a few months left until the release date, a lot of information is sure to drop within that time.
