I wanted to make a song that was obvious as to what it's about but if you take away one repeating line from it then it's maybe not so obvious. I don't know if I achived that goal but here is the result. This is why we can't be friends There's a friction as the tree comes crashing down ontop of bushes and the hills are flooding but I don't seem to drown You sing a quiet song and invite me to sing along I can't say no and this is why we can't be friends The boat is rolling and prepares for the impending waves that we both see comming but you say it's nothing so I lay in the sea for a while But you'll keep singing that quiet song inviting me to sing along knowing I can't say no and this is why we can't be friends There's only us, no life guard I'm drowning in other waves there's not a net to catch me so long I've been laying easy but soon I won't be comming out to play And these lips are trembling from the cold sorry but you offer me no safety these games are getting old You sing a quiet song and invite me to sing along I just can't say no and this is why we can't be friends This is why we can't be friends
