I thought I would make a separate thread specifically for the TV writer's strike that begins on Monday, November 5th. Click the links below to read up all about it: http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=282334&mpc=1 http://movies.msn.com/movies/hitlist/10-23-07_2 Click the link below to see where your favorite TV shows stand: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-striketvgrid-html,0,7606966.htmlstory?coll=la-home-center I personally don't watch a whole lot of TV but this really blows. The only shows I'm pissed off about is Conan O'Brien, The Daily Show, Colbert Report and Nip/Tuck. Discuss.
This is a bunch of bullshit. The studios and writers need to come to an agreement as soon as possible and stop being babies over it. They\'re ruining some of the best shows on the air right now.
so what's the big deal with this? they just want more money like usual? and is the proposed hollywood strike going to go on next year as well?
We don't know. That's for the studios/writers to decide. I think they should just give the writers their money. I mean, 4 cents from every DVD, and they want 8 cents? How about settle on a cool 6 and let Heroes and all the other great shows out there continue on?
I think this is really stupid. There's a good chance some shows which just premiered won't come back after the strike is over just because no one's gonna wanna work on them anymore because they'll figure people will have forgotten all about them. And that sucks because I liked... um, that one with the nerds and Kaley Cuoco.
I'm suprised Heroes wasn't mentioned in there. Well, for anyone that missed it, they shot a new ending for one of the episodes in December in case the strike went official, so that means the season could end next month if the strike keeps going.
Luckily they did more than one arc planned this season. The new ending was actually gonna be the end of the "Generations" volume. And yeah...I like that Chuck show as well, so it'll suck that it probably won't be coming back.
Apparently I was talking about The Big Bang Theory. Apparently a full season was ordered and filmed already.
Yeah, but the new ending won't be a lead-in to the new arc, which means Heroes would be finished for the season. ..And Chuck has the guy who played Jayne from Firefly/Serenity. It can't die.
This sucks. The only shows I watch that are affected are Scrubs and The Daily Show/Colbert Report, but that's enough to piss me off. Gotta hand it to the writers, though... they're really hitting them hard doing it mid-season and whatnot.
So...doesn't really matter. You start where you left off. Once the strike is over, they'll probably have to write a new version of their next arc, but still... And what's with everybody's love for Firefly?
They are doing this because a lot of the shows affected are big draws for the television studios and by having a strike, that's going to be huge plummet in viewers and ratings. I cannot see this strike lasting too long, for that very reason. Theoretically speaking; they have the television networks by the the balls.
I'm sure they have 4 or 5 episodes already done, so it shouldn't affect anything too much if it's settled quickly enough. Maybe the should just fire the writers and get new ones though. I'm tired of Scrubs being this J.D./Eliot will they/won't they crap. They've done it off and on for 6 years, and in every one of those years it's sucked. They need to get back to what made the show good; People getting sick and Janitor.
