People saying Mars Volta, Devin Townsend Project and Boris can gtfo as far I'm concerned. Nah seriously, those bands are way too solid, I dun get it :/.
For me Does it offend you yeah. Although their songs are unique, I found their songs really repetitive and similar. And they couldn't hype up the crowd. Even pendulum did much better opening.
To be fair, that crowd sucked. I was one of the only people jumping up and down for Pendulum. There just seemed to be a lacking of interest. I saw Muse last year at the ACC and the crowd was waaaaaayyyy more into things.
Seriously? Like 99% of LP fans have no idea who Does It Offend You, Yeah is. Maybe only 95% have no idea who Pendulum is. So they should do a little better job of hyping the crowd up. I thought both opening bands put on a better show than LP, to be honest. Maybe it's just because I'm more into that music now compared to everything LP plays excluding ATS. Or it could be that both of those bands want to gain peoples' interest in them since they are virtually unknown in the US so they care about their music more.
Limp Bizkit at Summer Sanitarium right after Linkin Park came on in Chicago. I think we broke Limp Bizkit... We booed them off stage and were pelting lemons at them(From the lemonade drinks). Fred Durst got so pissed he and the rest of the band played maybe three songs and walked off stage. Fred then sat back there and was talking smack to the audience and then he started to do it in a kermit the frog voice. Too stupid to make up, right? He then came back onstage with a shotgun and started firing blanks into the crowd. Again, I reitterate, too stupid to make up. He then was escorted away in handcuffs by two police officers for firing a weapon he had no permit for. lol It was funny because LP had the crowd buzzing with excitement. Then after Limp Biznitch left the stage early, that was a whole hour and a half we had to wait for Metallica to come on. Most boring hour and a half of my life!
I went to Summer Sanitarium in Philly, and Limp was probably the best that day. I don't know, Fred is a douche.
For me, Coheed & Cambria and The Bravery. I knew a couple of songs by C&C and they were just boring. Same with The Bravery.
For me, its DIOYY? First of all, even with my lack of interest with them due to their silly mouthful of a name, i was willing to give them a chance. I wanted them to impress me live and make me not care about their name. They started off good, but after the second song, it felt and sounded and looked like rinse & then repeat for the rest of the show. I got bored really quickly. I really never ever say a band music's sounds the same. But this band begged that statement out of me. Their songs sounded VERY similar to one another and made my mind wander off which is quite the accomplishment considering that i was right in front of the barrier. They were also lackluster performers. They brought nothing new. At best, they were average dime a dozen band. I thought i was being very biased. But Pendulum whom i've also never seen nor heard about before proved me wrong. The difference in presence, quality of music, interesting variation of music, performance was outstanding. And the biggest difference was that after the show, i actually remembered one of the Pendulum songs and could hum it while i couldn't recall a single melody from DIOYY even if my life depended on it. They lacked the IT factor. Who knows DIOYY may make "good music." But at the end of the day, its useless if you can't make me connect with it.
Wow. Most of you either.. A. Have not been to very many concerts. or B. Are fucking morons. Probably a little of both.
The only bands I didn't really like as opening acts were probably Closure In Moscow for Madina Lake or Attack Attack! for Escape The Fate. I've been to like 100+ shows and those were really the only openers I didn't like at all, I like a lot of music.
I'm still trying to figure out why you haven't been banned again yet. In any case, the worst opening bands I've seen were Paper Tongues from this most recent ATS tour and Bad Acid Trip during the System of a Down/Mars Volta tour back in the day.
I hate to say this but Attack Attack! really isn't all that bad now They are much better and much heavier. But back then fosho
paper tongues is actually coming to the fair down here. i was thinking of passing through to see how they were. now im thinking not. worst opening bands i probably saw were the openers for hed pe last tour i think. it was a bunch of rap artists including ritter(sp?) from kotton mouth kingz. for a while we couldnt remember anyone who played that show... that's how bad it was. now that i think about it.. i might be confusing it with another hed pe headliner show.. but honestly hed pe keeps coming down here with openers im not too fond of.
