Heyy. We all have problems. This is a thread to vent out. Because internalizing shit is the worst thing you can do. This is a thread for support and compassion.

I made this partly because I've been having a really shitty time myself. I've been diagnosed with clinical depression and I've been on antidepressants for the last month.

Rules of this thread: Don't judge, be supportive and most importantly, let it all out.

I don't have any serious problems (lucky me), but props for making this thread; I'm sure a lot of people need it.

I do want to thank you for making this thread. We used to have something like this years ago, but I think we generally got rid of it because the thread got bloated and I think there were some issues with how people treated one another. With that said, I'd like to update your ground rules and provide some more:

01: Withhold judgment and embrace differences. Everyone is coming from a different place and enters the thread with different experiences. As such, it is important to keep your reservations out of the thread and to speak with an open mind and open heart.

02: Be supportive. One of things we boast about the LPA is that it is a welcoming community. We ask that you support one another throughout the thread, even if it just means a simple, "I hope things get better for you." Even a small sentence like that can go a long way for a person.

03: Forum rules still apply. Letting it out is important, but if it involves insulting another member or using any inappropriate language (e.g. slurs), then it does not belong on these forums. Please be mindful of that.

04: Know when to seek help. In threads like these, we have encountered serious issues and concerns such as depression and suicide. If you need help, please seek it. While we here at the forums can do everything in our power to listen, an internet community is not nearly as effective as talking to a real person about how you feel.

05: Set aside preconceived notions and recognize identity. Every person is different, and sometimes it is easy to put people in a box - but we have to be cognizant of differences in identity. Be sensitive to that as we go along.

Otherwise, please feel free to get things off of your chest here. We are hopeful this thread will, in some way, make you feel better and offer you a safe way to release your negative feelings.

What the fuck, I'll start it off.

I've been feeling a little shitty because I recently went to a psychiatrist. The office is the only near me (unable to drive at the moment) who also charges based on income (which is nothing right now). I went hoping he be able to get me started on hormone therapy. I get there and it's over Skype, which was... Odd. He was pretty unprofessional. He took three phone calls during our meeting. Then I didn't even get what I came for. He suggested I go see a specialist. He gave me resources, nothing. I found out later the only one is downtown. I can't get downtown. So I was pretty upset feeling built up and knocked down. Also, feeling like I just wasted the fucking hour of my life. Thanks a butt heap, Doc!

That sudden kind of depression struck me today. I don't feel like doing anything. I don't see a point in living. I don't even feel like chewing the gum I have in my mouth right now. It'll probably be gone by tomorrow, but it's a gross feeling.

That's ridiculous. I am sorry that you had to put up with that. I feel as though any mental health care specialist should be professional and give you the time and attention you deserve. I am sorry you did not have a positive experience, and I am hopeful you can find someone who is accessible, affordable, and helpful.

Have you been having a hard time with other things in your life, or do you feel these moments just arise randomly?

As I said in my first post in the thread, I don't really have any problems, or at least any relevant ones. Thus, the latter.

Well, it's certainly good that you don't seem to have any problems. It is definitely a concern though if there are moments where you feel like you don't see a point in living. It is certainly a serious statement to make, and so I just want to make sure you're okay and that there's nothing else major going on.

you know how you feel the impending friend-zone? yeah, i am getting that vibe with this girl but i continue to dig myself deeper into this hole. we're good friends for sure, but i am not sure if she would consider it anything else. i am very naive. i'll come back and vent when it all goes to shit.

You know what, your problems are big in the context of your world. I didn't see your post but I'm pretty sure it wasn't some 1st world problem nonsense. I mean, if you really want to feel like a pussy go look at Haiti. Or Palestine. Or Venezuela (no offense Andreina :p). That doesn't make my shit invalid. My shot doesn't make your problems invalid. We all deal with shit in out own way. Maybe you would deal with being trans a lot better than I have. Maybe I wouldn't handle your problems so well. We don't know. We just have try and cope with our own shit the best we can.

Take her on a date man! Take control of the situation, and at least give yourself a chance. I felt that same way with this girl last year, so I decided to take her to the movies and dinner to see what happened, and whaddya know, she's my girlfriend. Or was at least

ANYWAYS... What I came here to "vent" about.

I am convinced that my teachers are evil aliens from another planet. They give us so much summer work that we are barely able to enjoy our summers. I don't understand why we can't just relax and not worry about school during the summer "break". They might as well call it summer parole.

No, I don't really think like that at all. Its just I wasn't very comfortable with my post. I posted on a whim. I just don't like talking about my problems until they are fixed. Makes me feel like a loser. I just have trouble with studies. We have exams like every week and I'm tired of the exams and I'm not interested. Like, now we have small weekly tests, and then two weeks from now, we'll have our semesters. This week, I really prepared hard for maths. I did every problem I could but writing the exam I screwed up the calculations. Lots of silly mistakes. I studied hard and I'm still probably failing. I'm the kind that gives up easily and I'm trying not to but I'm really tired of these tests. All I do is procrastinate and study. But, I don't have another option. The thing is I was good student- It's was just much easier to be a good student back then.

it's hard man, because it's a fragile thing. people are too scared to be honest with each other and shit. fuck, i would
have told her i like her by now if it wasn't for that. but instead we have to play this mind game with each other. it
sucks but that's kind of how it is these days. eventually i am going to take the chance but she seems to be someone
who wants to really get to know you first. i know that because she told me. but i notice i am always the one
starting conversations, trying to organize hangs, etc., so at this point i am trying to best prepare myself for the fall.

there is nothing better than talking about your problems when they're actually happening. i have gone through probably
what is the most shit of my life this year and i am hanging in fine - because therapy. i talk with people about shit and
i feel so much better about it. anyone: friend, family. even if you're not sure that i feels right, it helps you clear your
mind, and it lets you kind of analyse what you're saying ... if you say something and think, "wow, that sounds stupid,"
then by thinking that you're kind of coming to a conclusion on your own, or least a clearer understanding of how you feel
    about that particular thing.

Eh, I feel like this most of the time. I'm just living day by day waiting for stuff to happen.

I think it's important sometimes to reflect on our reactions to our emotions in the moment and then see how we feel afterwards. Sometimes, seeing how we are in the heat of our emotions can offer a good understanding of who we are. I think it's okay to vent in the moment. You can view it from both angles, but I find it to be the least compromised time to really share how you're feeling. It is easy to look back on when you were upset and feel bad that you were angry, or maybe think "Ugh, did I say that?" But I dno, I think it's healthy in a way. It offers more perspective.

Anyway, as far as your studies are concerned - it is better to do your best than not to. Sometimes, studying really hard for a subject that you're not comfortable with is compromised by your feelings. You feel like you're not good at the subject and feel discouraged by your past failures, and so no matter how hard you try there is a mental block of discomfort and uncertainty. Let go of what has happened and try to look forward. You're a smart person and you're very capable of anything you want to do if you really set your mind to it. Don't procrastinate - be proactive and seize time when it appears. I think if you can do that, you'll find more success in your studies.

I wish you the best of luck, though. I know how it feels to try so hard in a subject and feel like you really can't succeed or break through. I find myself in that situation with the topic of economics. It's a challenge but you have to keep trying, you know?

The cyclic thing I go about just every other time is the fact that living here is worse everyday. Worse as in quality of life.

We're having a serious problem with water supply in our home. There might be something in the pipes but overall it's gone to shit. I don't know what it is to take a normal shower anymore, I can't wash my clothes when I want, the dishes accumulate, we can't flush our toilets but when absolutely necessary. Nothing comes out of faucets and when it comes out it's dirty. No one to complain to, now institutions are just instruments of political proselitism.

It gets me, because I feel powerless. We have trouble finding stuff like cooking oil and toilet paper, we have to look everywhere and in other cities.

Also the lack of opportunities, professionals are worthless, and the system is infected, no one earns a promotion, everything is through corruption and I don't function that way. Friends tell me 'leave' but how? I don't have any savings.

I started 2014 earning the equivalent of 1350$ in local currency and now in august I still earn the same amount of local money but it's now worth to 170$. Devaluation and inflation have ravaged my salary. No opportunities.

I just need these people to be out, voting doesn't work, they control everything, it's been 15 years of demise of the country, but the poor fall onto the populist speech. We've fallen apart.

I can't tell you how sorry I feel upon reading that. That's a true problem. I wish you nothing but the best in the future, hopefully it gets better. If you could find a way to leave the country, you should.
