(Map provided for non-Australian residents) It started with Coonamble in 2010 and other regional NSW towns being threatened with flooding (like mine) and even by then, the bad weather had moved up north. Towns like Rockhampton, Emerald, and Bundaberg were all declared natural disaster zones before 2011 was to arrive. The town of Toowoomba, yesterday around 1 pm, was hit with a sudden 'tsunami' of water as cars were lifted up even heavy water tanks, were dragged metres. Grafton and other surrounding towns were also severely affected and now it has moved to the capital of the state, Brisbane, where it is said to flood with 4.5 metres of water, 2 metres more than the 70s flood that hit the town. 10 people have been confirmed dead. 90+ people remain missing so far. Both tolls are expected to rise. 75% of Queensland have been declared natural disaster zones. And it is expected to last for days. Full Story Queensland being our major exporting centre of Australia, has risen the loss of exports to around AUS$11 Billion (especially with our coal mines being underwater) as with along relief efforts. The last victim that this flood had claimed was a 4 year old boy trying to climb into a rescue boat.
