But yeah, new Machine Head...this is the album that Trivium should've made.

And in another piece of news, who's awaiting HELLYEAH?

I just got the new Mastodon, and it exceeded my expectations (though, I've seen it called the #2 metal album of 06 twice) by a large degree. I've really been getting into prog metal more recently, some of my favorite stuff is Opeth, Mastodon, Tool, and later-day Emperor. I want to check out Isis and Neurosis, but does anyone have other recommendations?

Intronaut would be a good choice, as well.

    *raises hand*

HELLYEAH is kind of generic, but it's great party music. and it's Vinnie Paul.

Not bad. Kinda reminds me of Sky Eats Airplane and Bleeding Through.

Does anyone know of Power Metal that isn't super cliche, cause all I've heard of that genre sounds like shit.

I've heard Edguy is pretty good, and I can personally vouch for the Sex Machineguns.

..meanwhile Winnipeg is getting Lamb of God/Machinehead/Gojira on March 6, Diosabbath/Megadeth/Down on March 18th, BLS on April 10th, and Dimmu Borgir/Devildriver/Unearth/Kataklysm on May something.

On a side note, is the Gothenburg scene bad enough these days that Metallica in Sweden is a big deal?

I wish I was still living in Winnipeg (even though Edmonton is getting all those shows), the scene there for music in general is so much better then Edmonton's.

    April 10th. it's ace.

not really. We have about 10 good underground metal bands, and about 3 punk bands. And only one half decent band from Winnipeg has surfaced on a record label in the last 20 years or so. and you get way more shows than we do.

Although then again, I don't know too much about the Edmonton scene.

ill pick it up tuesday and im thinking about getting pantera's reinventing the steel. ive been meaning to get it but its been 19.99 for forever and they dropped the price to 9.99 and so im going to get it more than likely. ive been in a pantera mood the last few weeks and so i figured now was a good time to pick it up.
