The 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup is currently taking place in the West Indies from March 13 to April 28, 2007. There will be a total of 51 matches played at the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup, which is three fewer than at the 2003 World Cup, despite the two extra teams taking part. It will be contested by 16 nations divided into four groups of four teams. The top two teams from each group will then compete in a "Super 8" format, similar to the previous "Super 6" format, from which the semi-finalists will be decided.

The Greenfield Stadium, Trelawny, Jamaica hosted the Opening Ceremony on 11 March. And the first match played was between Pakistan and West Indies yesterday.

Finally! I wanted to make a thread meself, but I was afraid it would die like the other too.
So, anyway, I'm sad about it being held in the w.indies because of the time difference...anyway, so the Windies won over Pakistan. I know I'm not supposed to be happy, and I have nothing against Pakistan, but ...old rivalry feelings kicking up. :p
Anyway, it's like the WC hasn't started hear at all, no one's interested in anything until India plays.

Hundred and fucking thirty or around that much.

I think that's the only possible thing that consoled the 50 lakh Indians from our loss. >.<

Haha dude even India's going down. But seriously our team was really bad, so no surprise there. And REALLY this has to be the weirdest worldcup ever.

    GO IRELAND

haha, we're going down if bangladesh are more patriotic than everyone's giving them credit for and don't take the bribes.
frankly, in my eyes the world cup is O-V-E-R. if we do get through, we 're STILL not worthy of showing our face along with fantastic teams like south africa and australia and new zealand.

    GO NEW ZEALAND!

It's sortof good because really if Pakistan is out so is India.

And another thing you said "so the Windies won over Pakistan. I know I'm not supposed to be happy, and I have nothing against Pakistan, but ...old rivalry feelings kicking up :p"
Seriously I feel the same way about India, so no hard feelings right? I guess both our teams were more obsessed about coming in advertisements than the game. So yeah we both suck .

Hmm on the other hand Bangladesh is going surprisingly strong, You go team! *Seriously what we did to them after the independence was just plain shitty. (1947-1972 sometime)

And New Zealand is looking pretty good and I like their team and even the West Indies and South Africa are one of my favourite teams this time. England doesn't deserve to move ahead. And.... ANY TEAM SHOULD WIN IT, ANY TEAM BUT AUSTRALIA!

    ...errr yeah.

Cause we won it 2 years running, and we're great sledgers.

'Course not. It's an age old rivalry,

Damn straight. I've seen more of Dhoni's hair than his runs.

    HELL YEAH!
Besides, Ricky Ponting and Brett Lee (along with the rest, to a slightly lesser extent) are, imo, arrogant tossers.
And there is the whole dead-jealous-of-'em factor.

I STILL can't believe both India and Pakistan are out of the world cup, without even entering the super 8! Even if they don't deserve it, they're a part of cricketing elite and stuff.
I think they're pretty much EXACTLY like Spain and England in football: have superstars but can't perform.

Meghna, I agree a hundred percent.

And I don't want Australia to win because they really don't deserve it (GO BERMUDA!) and they have been winning for too long......it's kind of like how not everyone wants Brazil to win the Football world cup. It's really nothing too personal with me. Really. Someone else should go for it, and it'll be nice if West Indies, New Zealand, South Africa get it. And not to be a mean bitch but really, I like the under dogs but they won't go far.

    Thankyou.

Haha, we think so much alike. Maybe we were separated at birth-even I think it's exactly like the Brazil thing! Kaka being the slightly-less-arrogant Brett Lee.
Although I have slightly more reason to hate them because of how they HUMILIATED us in the final last time.
But, the Aussies are on a roll right now, already made 250plus runs. :(

EDIT: let's make that 300, shall we? >.<
