    ...for only a mere $2,800!

I'm absolutely THRILLED over the specifications of this laptop. I find the fact that a laptop like this exists to be completely awesome. What I do not find awesome is the price. 2800 basically for a laptop? I want to see this succeed, but pricing it this hefty was a terrible marketing decision by Razer. They do this whole "PC GAMING IS NOT DEAD" campaign to try and prove that PC gaming can still kick Console gaming's ass, and yet price it at over 5 times what the PS3 was at launch. The reason people DO consoles is cause it's a fun but cheap alternative to PC gaming, without spending 1500+ for a expensive gaming rig. Pricing it at a price post that pretty much makes it only affordable for the insanely rich, and basically laughs at the recession is a terrible marketing move. I can build a PC with similar specs for cheaper than this. I mean for fuck's sake, my PC has 6GB DDR3 memory, a 1TB harddrive and a quad-core processor and it was less than a thousand.

    Thoughts?

About average desktop specs. I don't see myself wasting all that money for that. No way I'm spending more than $800 if I'm ever going to replace my crappy laptop. The only thing I use it for is porn and watching movies/shows in bed. Everything else is done on my desktop lol.

It is pretty crazy how nice laptops are getting, though. Just shows how fast technology is advancing.

I don't get the gaming on laptops? After being a heartbroken 14 year old unable to Oblivion on my new laptop, I've been bitter against it. I built a nice desktop this summer for 1600, its my gaming console, way of music cration, and home theatre. Well dorm theatre ;)

laptops are always going to be more expensive than desktops. If they have the same specs, the laptop would be doing the exact same thing as a desktop but taking up less than a fifth of the physical space to do so. And a laptop would require even more technological magic to keep itself cool with all the power put in such a tiny space. When you get a laptop, you're not just paying for the specs, you're paying for the ability to pick it up and carry it around.

Of course, I never would understand why someone would want to have a gaming laptop. A desktop equivalent would be much cheaper. Getting a powerful laptop is a good idea if it's a person's only computer and they need to carry it around regularly, but that's an awful lot of power for someone on the go. Do people get so obsessed with their games that they have to have them with them ALL of the time?

Though, i think comparing it to a dedicated gaming rig isn't quite fair. Gaming rigs are only for games. This line will get more and more blurred in the future, maybe, but a gaming rig slashes out everything it doesn't need that a normal PC would have. If i want a general purpose computer that ALSO does games, I expect to pay more.

EDIT: your list there left off the touchscreen and the fancy LED keys nonsense.

I agree, I mean it's nice and all, but why not just get a desktop computer for a much lower price if you want to play games?
