"The Most Desperate of Times Call for the Most Desperate of Measures, but I Left My Ruler at Home" She appeared to me in a dream And I still don't know what it means She said the world is in my hands But I just do not understand Paper tiger situations Are unlikely presentations Yet I can't find my strength today Nor do I know what I will say I won't let your waves crash over me That's just a thing of the past I'm rising above it, can't you see That your weight will never last And the most desperate of times They always seem claimed to be mine The most desperate of measures Seem to disrupt all this pleasure The paper tigers are tearing They just won't hold any bearing I'll try to find my strength today Discover what I have to say I won't let your waves crash over me That's just a thing of the past I'm rising above it, can't you see That your weight will never last I won't let your waves crash over me I'm a reinforced breakwall I'm rising above you, can't you see I'll be the one standing tall And your porcelain skyline can be torn down Its pillars are as weak as your own heart I'll take pleasure in the solace I've found While you're just left broken back at the start And to think I wanted to tell you I loved you I won't let your waves crash over me That's just a thing of the past And to think I wanted to tell you I loved you I won't let your waves crash over me That's just a thing of the past I'm rising above it, can't you see That your weight will never last I won't let your waves crash over me I'm a reinforced breakwall I'm rising above you, can't you see (And to think I wanted to tell you I loved you) The only way you'd win is by becoming a tsunami And, honey, we both know your ego will break before then I won't let your waves crash over me (And the most desperate of times) That's just a thing of the past (They always seem claimed to be mine) I'm rising above it, can't you see (The most desperate of measures) That your weight will never last (Seem to disrupt all this pleasure) I won't let your waves crash over me (The paper tigers are tearing) I'm a reinforced breakwall (They just won't hold any bearing) I'm rising above you, can't you see (I'll try to find my strength today) I'll be the one standing tall (Discover what I have to say) The paper tigers are tearing And to think I wanted to tell you I loved you
Thanks for the comments. It was my attempt at writing a Thrice-ish song, seeing as how they've got mostly standard 8-line verses and whatnot.
