“The Life That Belongs To You” Everyone is looking for a change— A chance to start again with a brand new name; And as the day divides the night, We're all still searching for a sign— Something that will lead us onto the right path And to give us the things that we've never had. But our lives are being spent for war And no one knows what all the dying's for. No one will ever understand the concept; Instead, we'll all just be faced with a pang of regret. As the bombs explode signals over the air, We're supposed to go about, pretending we don't care. But when the black smoke has filled our lungs, We'll realize that this war has only just begun. So, please, take my life, and throw me in the river; Cast me down so deep that I won't be able to quiver Or shudder as the waves pull me under. Let my mind leave as my body stares in wonder— Asking itself if it ever had the chance to acheve And become everything that it ever wanted to be. But I'm expendable and gunfire cut my life down And I was cast into the river where I didn't make a sound. Maybe I'll come back in another life— Reincarnated—to make all wrong things right. As the flowers are laid across my grave, I think about the lives I didn't have a chance to save; Especially the life I really wanted to... And that life—it belongs to you.
