Well, now that we have the absolute pleasure of listening to the album at will, WHAT DO YOU THINK!?! I'd do a list of "best tracks" but it'd be so long: KTTK, AFN, War, Rebellion, MTG, and ALITS are all FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC. Dat breakdown and guitar solo in KTTK #zomg What do you guys think?
For me: 1) KTTK 2) All for Nothing 3) A Line in the Sand 4) Rebellion 5) Guilty all the Same 6) War 7) Final Masquerade 8) Wastelands 9) Mark the Graves
The whole punk vibe works surprisingly well for the band. It's a great new sound for them. Lots of strong songs on this album. Hopefully this album doesn't fade really quick like Living Things did. I doubt it will. I think there are, however, too many weaker moments on the album to call it my favorite. Songs like All For Nothing, Wastelands, Until It's Gone, while there might be good things about each, pale in comparison to songs like Keys To The Kingdom, War, and Mark The Graves.
I wrote out 4 pages during my first listen, just with my thoughts. We'll see what happens now. Maybe I'll post some of it later.
For me, this is their best album yet. I really don't like any form of electronic music, so ATS and LT were huge disappointments for me. This though. This shit is epic, man, this is what they should have done after Meteora.
Incredible. After being so disappointed with the last two albums this is so fucking nice. This is the album we have been waiting for. Thank you linkin park for finally delivering
I'm on UIG in a traditional play-through. So far, I can say I feel like it has a lot more lasting power than LT, for me. KTTK was that near perfect rock-out LP experience for me so far for sure.
Okay. Heard it all. And. Solid. A few nit-picks here and there, but I think it's pretty damn solid. THP>LT at least. If I had to put the tracks in order by how much I enjoyed them, I think it would look like this; Keys to the Kingdom ~ Rebellion War Mark the Graves ~ A Line in the Sand Guilty All the Same All For Nothing Final Masquerade (Phenomenal soft song, I've just heard enough good soft/ballad-y things from LP for me to put it much higher than just over UIG.) Until it's Gone Wastelands (Instrumentally excellent, but its context seems soo forced that it's just not enjoyable for me.) That's first impression of course.
I am surprised with how much I like AFN. It's so much better than I was expecting. This is was my least anticipated song, based on the reviews, but I really like it. Hard to rank the songs though. I'd rather to wait a bit more and give a few more listens. But I can easily say that the new songs are great. GATS, Wastelands and UIG are so weak compared to the rest of the album.
A whole album of Rebellions and Keys to the Kingdoms would've been even better in a way. Those are the best two songs on the album.
Don't underestimate Mark The Graves and A Line In The Sand... I think my FAVORITE part of the album is the KTTK guitar solo with Chester singing the "oh oh ohhhh"s over it though....DEM FEELS.
Well, I praise KTTK so much because it has the best dosage of all these things I've come to appreciate from LP. It's raw, it's catchy, it's moving, and it's definitely a step out of the ordinary and experimental as far as LP's heavy music writing abilities go. I love that Mike sings one verse and raps the next, and the rap is badass. It's in a flow I really like from him. It sounds fresh for once. And Chester's chorus sounds so emotional. For once in quite awhile, he sounds empathetic to what he's belting out. I absolutely LOVE how the end of each line, his screams curl out, almost like a cry.
