Hey man, no worries! This is for fun, you have my respect for being sooo awesome with this whole ordeal and constantly providing support! Hope to see you around the forums elsewhere in the mean time, haha. P.S We still have many other songs to figure out it would be awesome to get more help for those!
How is that particular synth made at 0:35? It is one of the coolest synth sounds I've heard from LP. It sounds so weird and almost organic. I would love to figure it out.
One more question. In 'Pushing me away', whats the sweeping effect behind the guitars in the verses? It sounds like some sort of white noise. Here's the sample. Its between 0.21 and the pre chorus
It could have been done on a sequencer in a drum machine, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell. Barring that, it was probably just a matter of throwing samples into a timeline or into a software-based drum tool, effecting them and, then, arranging them into a pattern. Maybe, after that, that pattern was re-sampled and further-effected before being mixed into the existing arrangement. That even might've been how the whole song started, who knows?
Yeah, it was probably just a complete loop from a pack or one of the band's own recordings that was the starting point
I feel like I've heard a sample like it on TGSB...I might be wrong but I don't wanna search right now.
Tasty Gas Station Breaks. Hahn's personal sample record from LP's early days. It's been ripped and is up for dowload.
Yes please, second this motion. The electronic drums are so distinctive that it loses all character when not using something that sounds extremely close.
Not really the thread for this but just play Bm (barre chord, root on the 5th string), G, A (both barre chords with the root on the 6th string but only play the bottom 4 strings of each chord, with a slide up from G to A), Em (open position chord). Same chord progression the chorus uses. Tuned down half a step btw.
I've recently listening too much to Twenry One Pilots, And i've found a intressting thing. seems like those guys have ripped off one of the most famous Linkin Park sounds. i talking of the Intro keybord synth from NUMB. you can find in "Ode to Sleep" on the Intro too: from 0:47 to 1:00
I know what sound you're talking about. I wouldn't say they stole it, lots of songs have similar sounds used for riffs. But I'm sure it would be correct to say LP helped popularize that kind of sound with Numb.
I'm going to play devils advocate here and say, this isn't really a "rip off" I will admit that the synth stabs/keys sounds have a similar feel to Numbs but they aren't the same.
