Uhm. DO YOU HAVE THE RIGHT DO YOU HAVE THE RIGHT DOCUMENTATION On a serious note: Redshift kind of pandered to the mainstream radio, while this song is less accessible. I like both tracks but neither of them really stand out that much in their discography. I do think I like this track more than Redshift, because it does have some really interesting shifts in melody and mood. The contrast between the A and B verses is pretty fucking drastic. I guess my only real problem with the song is that the bridge of the song doesn't really do anything interesting compared to the rest of the track. The lyrics are also a bit cryptic and I can't quite make sense of it all.
From what I have heard and seen, Rou has pretty much stated it has to do with the refugee crisis. EDIT: Was wrong btw
The guys have been posting a slightly modified version of the Take To The Skies art work with the caption #TTTS2017, possible tour? I mean they just got into the studio. . .
I wouldn't put a small UK tour to celebrate the 10th of TTTS past them. That's what I feel would be the most feasible thing to do.
Yeah, that's what I figured, too bad I'm stuck all the way here in Canada, it'd be awesome to see all of TTTS played again. It'd be nice if they ran a reprint of the CD though, I can never seem to find one at any retailer or online. . .
REVISON: AFFoC was released on the 9th of January but Shikari lumped it with Rou's birthday today. Regardless, yay!
Just got back form the Toronto Enter Shikari show, it was fucking intense. They played through much of TTTS, adding some mindsweep in between. It was cool hearing those songs live, especially Today won't go down in history.
Today Won't Go Down In History is one of my faves on TTTS. Rou said in a recent interview that this song actually wouldn't sound out of place on their upcoming album. https://roobla.com/music/feature/57615/take-to-the-skies-turns-ten-rou-reynolds/
Yeah I saw, super excited about that. Total side note: The Shikari show was my first "real" live gig. Everyone was super friendly, but it was still weird the only guy there wearing a turban lol, the moshing was intense, especially during on No Ssweat, I stayed away though lol.
How are we all feeling about Supercharge? Also, I decided to look for the Dear Future Historians book and it was half the price it was when it came out. I jumped on that offer immediately and it arrived about an hour ago. So excited.
Supercharge is awesome. The breakdown is mental. I also like Big Narstie's vocal contribution, maybe since as of lately I've gotten into lots of UK Rap (that's why I also really liked Stormzy's feature on GG) The band stated their new album is going to be more extreme. http://www.nme.com/news/music/enter-shikari-give-update-next-album-1851199
Sorry for double posting, but i wanted to revive this thread since Enter Shikari are going to release their new album "The Spark" on September the 22nd. The album is up for pre-order on their store. They also released a new song (+video) called "Live Outside". It looks like Supercharge won't be on it, as it's a stand alone single. Edit: Forgot to post the video
Rabble Rouser is like an ear worm. The first time it was like "aight this is cool" Now I'm humming the melody everywhere Also really liked reading Rou's track-by-track for Kerrang here: https://www.pressreader.com/uk/kerrang-uk/20170805/281586650679120
Yep, it's quite catchy Apparently the album version is about one minute longer! The promo video contains an edited version.
After first listen it's a good album but way worse than The Mindsweep. I don"t think they will ever The Mindsweep I love slow music but I feel for Enter Shikari this album was way too slow. Like 75% of the album is slow. I'll have to give to more listens obviously but I think it'll sit as #4 on their album rankings. Favorite songs on first listen: The Sights, Live Outside, and Undercover Agents
Slow? Shikari? Damn that sucks. Prefer their more metal/post hardcore leaning side, but the way they mix genres is what I like best about them. A straight electronic album wouldn't be my favourite, although I like the Grime elements they've incorporated recently into songs like Supercharge (which is an absolute banger) and Rabble Rouser. Agree about The Mindsweep, that was an amazing album probably topped TTTS and AFFOC which were my joint #1 ranked before. If this is slow it will come below those 3 and maybe even Common Dreads, which although I liked some of a lot wasn't really my thing.
Yeah, the album starts out with more energetic Enter Shikari but still pretty void of any Metal elements. The second half is all slow and even a little bit of the first half is slow. A little bit disappointing as Enter Shikari is best when they are energetic. EDIT: I'm listening again for the second time and it's not as slow as I remember but a lot of the songs don't click like usual. Yeah, The Mindsweep is easily my favorite album from them. I would argue it blows all their albums out of the water except Take to the Skies. This is how I would rank their albums personally to me: 1. The Mindsweep 2.Take to the Skies 3. A Flash Flood of Colour 4. The Spark 5. Common Dreads What's weird is I was thinking about this last night and it's not necessarily that got better or worse over time but they are one of the unique cases where they didn't get better or worse over the years and instead their albums, to me, jump all over the place because each album has a different sound but still tells you "This is Enter Shikari" and that's why their albums jump all over the place because some albums had a sound that was way better utilized than others.
