    (Based on a true story)

Divorce. The big D-word. The threat of it had loomed over the heads of this family for years. Constant arguing between my parents and the ever-present issue of money and our constant lack of it.

Why can't we all just get along? Because, it's human nature to long for chaos, for strife. We secretly WANT to fight. We long for the day when someone walks up to us with mayhem on their minds. It's just how we're made.

The vibrations in this house have steadily worsened the more we've moved. Is it where we are? Is it what we're doing? Or is it where we're going that makes us so tense, and so willing to jump at each other's throats at a moment's notice?

If only there was a way to dump all of this goddamn animosity on the highway. Head west, and drop it on I-40. That's the thing to do. If only.
And if some officer of the law turns on his flashing lights and asks us to pull over, why we'll just explain to him that we're doing the sensible, and helpful thing by polluting the ground with our ridiculous vibes.

    "I'LL MOVE OUT."

    "NO, I'LL MOVE OUT."

    Jesus fuck, this gets tiring.

Dad watches porn and downloads half-naked pictures of Megan Fox and Marisa Miller, and Mom flirts with her ex-boyfriend, whom she claims to hate bitterly.

We've all sinned, according to someone's law.

She says she gives up, but she keeps going. She doesn't want to make these arguments last for hours, but they do.

He says it's all his fault, and he's the one to blame, but he never really takes responsibility for it.

Am I the only one who's seeing this from an unbiased point of view here?

Does anyone else see the hypocrisy and ridiculousness of this all?

Everything's all better again, but for how long? How long until she erupts again? How long until he can't keep his feelings in check?

Tonight, after dinner, when he's cutting the cake, will she criticize him for no reason, yet again? When she signs the paperwork to get the cable installed, will he find some reason to yell at her?

Life is on a hair trigger again, as if it was ever any way but that.
