I'm not one to buy music videos, but if the video releases on iTunes, I'm buying it without a second thought. Only problem is, usually the sound quality is worse.

What I've noticed (at least for me) is that whenever Chris Martin speaks something, you can hear the first line fine, but the part completing the sentence seems more distorted. I wonder if that was on purpose. Probably was.

    Here's what I got:

In The Darkness, or the Door?

In the swelling, out this door? (whatever he's saying in the second part, it's definitely the same from the opening sentence.)

Running round and round with our porches, and of this gold? Even as, in light of?

Millions of (or old), [I have no idea]

Most of the second parts are way off, but it's the best I could come up with.

Well, I was skeptical that I'd like it, not being a big fan of Coldplay, but I'm always happy when I'm proven wrong on those doubtful moments: I love the new track.

Coldplay's fans are going crazy over this new track. It's probably their most polarizing track ever.

lol at the youtube comments, some people are butthurt.

Some people mention "the use of autotune" as well. Yeah, that's autotune alright :kappa:

EDIT: Jon Hopkins appears to be the producer of this new track. No wonder I like it

Sharp lefts are what I like. I like this a lot. I'm interested to see the lyrics to confirm what I think he's saying. But this is beautiful.

You took the words out of my mouth! After I heard the new song for the first time, I couldn't help but think, "this definitely isn't Mylo Xyloto anymore!"

Apart from Chris' voice somehow sounding less intelligible that Jonsi, this track is hauntingly amazing!

EDIT: I'm guessing at this point that either the Midnight music video is released, but "Magic" is the lead single, or "Midnight" is the lead single and "Magic" is going to be the second single we're all going to fall in love with, (ala "The Scientist", "Fix You", "Viva La Vida", "Paradise")

Do you think the rest of the album will also have the vocoder-vocals approach too? Or is this one of the few only? I'm pretty curious now.

Sounds a bit like Bon Iver/Justin Vernon.... with the vocoder and all. But I kinda dig it. Glad they moved away from the sugary and overly poppy sound of MX.

I really love the song. The understated-ness to the point of being hard to understand at times is so different from the usual huge sounding anthems. It's a bit like Radiohead in that sense.

The video is also sort of Radiohead-ish, although I think it tries a bit too hard. The dancing is a bit silly. But the visual effects are great.

Funny you mention that, since I thought of "Lotus Flower" when I saw that dance.

Yeah, I was about to edit my post to specifically mention that. Dancing enthusiastically to a slow almost somber electronic song.

Not very good IMO. I get what they were going for, but they didn't exactly pull it off. It just sounds like Coldplay attempting to imitate more experimental bands.

    I'm pretty sure they wont.

    Sooo, what do you think?

Bon Iver comparisons, Bon Iver comparisons everywhere...

    In love with this track.

Every single news website at the moment just can't help but compare it to Bon Iver! I know where they're coming from, given it legitimately sounds like Bon Iver, but when everybody starts saying it gets really annoying after an hour or so, literally. This only came out, like, three hours ago!

Speaking of which, this thing is really blowing up big time! Goes to show Coldplay pretty much still are the biggest band in the world!
