The song's growing on me the more I listen. It sounds empty in places but it somehow helps the song sound better.

It's awesome except for the repetitive lyrics... Buuut it really does raise my hopes for some awesome stuff on the album.

It's growing on me on each listen. My only complain: after the synth solo, when Chester kicks back in, I was expecting a climax leading to the piano part, but the song just keeps the same flow and the ending part seems abrupt, and the development of the song to that point sounds incomplete and rushed.

    Overall a great song. 7.5/10.

Sorry you feel that way, and I'm sure there's a very potent pack of prosthelytizers on here for every point of view. You simply must accept that for every person that thinks this song is garbage there is an equally extreme, equally dogmatic, view.

Personally, I love it — it may be my new favorite Linkin Park song soon because I fall more in love with it the more I think about why it is how it is by analyzing the lyrics, etc.. It's deep, one of the deepest and most energetic Linkin Park songs ever made. But I'm no evangelist, I'll share it but I won't shove it down your throat.

Man, they should take the first synth part, make it clearer, make the vocals more distorted and put a hardstyle beat underneath it.. BANG.

As someone who basically grew up listening to 'electronic' music and didn't really get into rock till the age of 14-15, I have to say I LOVE the instrumental electronic bridge. It's a brave risk for a band like LP to take, and I applaud them for it.

I would quote some of the posts on previous pages but theres too many of them - so to those who were saying that LP is changing, and changing for the wrong reasons, and shouldn't change, or should stick to what they do best or WHATEVER it is that you are arguing, my response is no.

It cannot be anymore clear than the band themselves saying "Hey, we are n o t going to make music like HT and Meteora anymore. We're not. We. are not. going to do it. Not. No....like, en, oh, no. and just so you undertand, no. we're not doing it.............. ps. no more nu metal. pps. no."

LP is making the music they want to make with no pressure from anyone outside the band. If you don't like it then guess what, you're not an LP fan anymore. And thats ok! Thats totally fine, and understandable. But dont complain about them going back to their old sound cause its not gonna happen.

And another thing, just because some fans who love old LP like myself also happen to like the new stuff (namely The Catalyst) that makes me a sheep? Are you kidding me? Give me a break man, some people just take the music for what it is and if you like it you like it, if you don't then kick rocks. Idk what else to tell you.

Someone give this guy a medal.

It's absolute BS if people think that everyone who likes the song are just being sheep. What a nonsensical argument.

not to sound like an ass, but you would applaud them for everything they do, at least you'd find a way to justify it somehow. ;)

i really have to agree with chris(tmas). the synth is too weak in my opinion. the overall song is a bit too long and gets repetitive pretty fast. the ending is designed to sound epic, but somehow it doesn't reach me on that level. aside from that everythings pretty cool about that song.
while i love the way lp seems to go with this album i'm yet not that addicted to the lead single. still i rank it much higher than "what i've done" when mtm was on its way.

It's true, i love it also. It gives the song a characteristic LP is unfamiliar with, a longer instrumental section to amplify the vision of the song.
What i thought also yesterday is that many people complains about this -extraordinary- bridge but the most of them i am sure loved She Couldn't. She Couldn't had an electronic bridge but by being sincere, The Catalyst has it a thousand miles (or suns) more evolved than that 1999 stuff. So for at least the people who keeps saying "old LP were better.. blabla" i must say they are quite hypocrite or too close minded or whatever else i cannot understand.

EDIT: Notice this wasn't meant as saying old LP were worse, but just different and nobody can say if they are better now than 1999. Simply they have taken other paths, and what they are trying to do now is surely more full of experience than ever before.

I am the person who had first said that sheep comment but really everyone is taking it out of context. There was a person who said they would love linkin park no matter WHAT they do and that they would FORCE themselves to like a song, and I had commented if you force yourself to like something it is not being a fan, it is being a sheep. I'm not saying that people who genuinely like a band for who they are and what they do are sheep and it pisses me off that people just can not comprehend what it is I said and take it completely out of context. If Linkin Park made country music, and I didn't like it and I told myself I did then I would not be a fan I'd be a blind idiot tool, which I'm not because I've never forced myself to like anything in my entire life and I sure as hell won't do it for Linkin Park. Fortunately I'm really digging The Catalyst and their new direction in general.

But good god people need to learn how to comprehend the most simplistic comments and stop dragging them so far out of their original meaning that it becomes so distorted.
