I saw this movie back on Saturday, and I'm confident when I say this is the best action film I have ever seen. I've read all the books (which are great in themselves and have nothing to do with the movies), loved the first two movies, and I have never anticipated the release of a movie so much, but this movie still exceeded my lofty expectations. It's two straight hours of non-stop thrilling action. My heart was pounding more during the course of the movie than any other movie I've seen. The best thing about this movie is the "cool" factor. The dialogue between the characters, Bourne's craftiness in eluding and taking down enemies, the brilliant stunts, the thrilling chase scenes, the fact it's an intelligent action movie: it all adds up to be one fucking cool film. I (and virtually every critic) highly recommend it. In fact, I'm seeing it again tomorrow in theatres, and I never do that. Has anyone else seen the movie, and what are your thoughts?
I LOVED the movie. The ending was kind of a cop-out, I think... the movie was good up until the last 5 minutes or so (especially the cheesy exchange between Bourne and the one guy... won't say anything more so as not to spoil anything; as well as the very end -- last minute). The action was awesome. Will they make a 4th? Possible, but highly, highly unlikely. In Hollywood, though, never say never.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bourne_Legacy Never say not a chance. It was pretty good though, but I have a soft spot for spy films with good plots.
Legacy's written by Eric Van Lustbader. I've read the book, it's really good. It's just that the way the film ends, I can't see them going anywhere without ruining the integrity of the movie. The end of the film Spoiler bookends the trilogy perfectly, by being a total mirror of the opening scene of the trilogy . Damon joked on The Daily Show that they could call the next one The Bourne Redundancy, a subtle nod that he thinks the series is over. But where else is there to go? Bourne Spoiler knows who he is, how he became an assassin (what a shock I got there), has brought those who created Treadstone/Blackbriar to justice, is no longer in danger of the CIA hunting him. They're not going to make a movie about him going around to everyone related to those he's killed and apologizing. Hah To me, it was a perfect ending to a great series. Ant: You didn't like the last scene? I'm guessing the dialogue you're think of was between Spoiler Bourne and the assassin he faced in the car chase, when they were on the rooftop. The one where he re-uses the line from The Professor (Clive Owen, from Identity), "Look at us, look at what they make you give."? I loved the last scene because you were kept in suspense as to whether Bourne was dead. And because of the aforementioned revisitation to the first scene of Identity .
Great movie, TERRIBLE cinematography All that shaky camera crap got old in the first 10 minutes, and I walked out with a headache...
Yes, that's imperative. Neil, you should have expected this after Supremacy. Paul Greengrass shoots with handicams. It's meant to be chaotic like that.
Mark i totally agree with you on this movie. Everything in this movie was amazingly well written, dialog, actions, everything. I went to see it 3 times, and each time it had me on the edge of my seat. I hope they won't make a 4th, i think it was a brilliant ending to the trilogy even though there is a remixed version of Extream Ways by Moby... Even my dad who hates movies like these, he thought it was amazing. Will definitely go down as one of the greatest action movies of all time.
Damon said he would definently consider doing a fourth. *shrugs* Awesome, one of the best actions movies I have seen for a long time. Even more impressive, they didnt use any special effects.
