I'm typing this on the floor cause I just got knocked off my feet. I won't dare compare it with the other Volta albums but this one definately ranks alongside them at least. No dissapointment here. Stunning album. Best 3 tracks I reckon are Goliath, Ouroborous and Soothsayer. Awesome all round mind. Going in for my 2nd spin now. What say you?
I've only heard Aberinkula, Goliath and Wax Simulacra from when they were leaked to the internet months ago from the web promo videos, and that's how it will stay until the 29th when it's officially released and I can buy it. All 3 songs are amazing (particularly Aberinkula).
First impression is good since it's such a song based record. There's vocals all over the place, which pleases me more than some of the extended jam stuff they've done in the past. I'm liking it so far, but TMV's records always seem to need time to sit on the brain before making a lasting opinion. I didn't much care for FTM at first but grew into it, while after initially liking Amputechture, my interest waned quickly.
I gave it a listen and I don't know, I love Deloused... but everything else by them I can't get into.
Finally, my kind of thread. The album is, just fantastic. I love The Mars Volta anyway, but the album is just a sonic wall of aural pleasure Aberinkula, Goliath and Agadez are my favourite at the moment. Im sure that'll change, becaue I love it all anyway.
Oh I'm going to buy it, I just couldn't wait like haha You'll enjoy it St0f, my guarantee XD Watch you hate it now
I don't rate this post. Been lining up the nose candy Ant? Probably wouldn't be a bad idea before listening to this record mind you.
As much as I want to hear it now, I think I'm going to hold out until the official release to keep some sense of surprise. Everything I've heard so far is incredible, though. I wish it was the 29th already.
Yeah, I'm C&Ping my reply to the TMV thread over at ETS. Tourniquet Man beats Televators & The Widow for TMV's "ballad" song. Pure fucking awesome. My only complaint is... this record is fucking long. I don't have a problem listening to De-Loused or Frances all the way through (I have alittle trouble with Amputechture), but I feel the climax of the album was at "Cavalettas", but maybe this album has two climaxes. At this point it's becoming a chore to listen to this album, because near the end, it's a 6 minute song followed by a 9 minute song, and finally another 6 minute song to round off the end of the album. It's still pretty fucking awesome. I remember having this trouble with Frances The Mute ("Cassandra Gemini" in particular), but now it's my #2 album out of their discography. So, as it stands now: 1. De-Loused 2. Frances The Mute 3. The Bedlam In Goliath 4. Amputechture 5. Tremulant 6. Scabdates Fuck, I hate Scabdates.
Well, it's released today. Over at the Comatorium, they're talking it's very likely they'll debut at #1.
