From Wikipedia: About time a thread was made for these guys. I've always been a huge fan of their music, and after learning bass and some of the impressive riffs Sir Paul McCartney has written I love them even more. There are bound to be some naysayers/haters on this board, but there's no denying these guys had talent or that they were one of the most influential bands of the 20th century. For those who really have never given them a listen I recommend listening to the album "LOVE" which while the songs are remixed somewhat, it is a good representation of the Beatles' entire career. So yeah, who loves The Beatles?
I knew you would come in here and say that, as we had this discussion a few years ago . I was waiting for it!
Favorite songs: Yesterday Across The Universe Strawberry Fields Forever All My Loving With A Little Help From My Friends Hey Jude I've Just Seen A Face Let It Be Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite. Something Revolution While My Guitar Gently Weeps Happiness Is A Warm Gun All You Need Is Love. and I can play Across The Universe, All My Loving & With A Little Help From My Friends on my acoustic. I absolutely loved Across The Universe the movie, it was such an awesome tribute to their music.
I appreciate, love and respect The Beatles. And I like their music, too, but I'm not a big fan of it.
Ah those are some of my favorites too. I love playing Come Together, Help! and I Wanna Hold Your Hand on bass. Haven't seen Across The Universe yet, but I plan to when I'm not as busy.
Wow I would've never pegged you as a Beatles fan Todd. For that you win the internet, and Rick Astley:
This. Then again, I have a very similar feeling towards a lot of the "gilded" bands like the Stones, The Who, et al.
The Beatles wrote some of the most beautiful, experimental, emotion, grondbreaking music ever written...their work on Revolver and sub-sequent albums are brilliant. The heartbreaking melodies of "Yesterday", "Michelle", Blackbird", and "Norwegian Wood"; the wackiness of "I Am Walrus" and "Revolution 9", the uplifting choruses of "Hey Jude" and "Lucy in the Sky", the trippiness of "Within You Without You" and "Tomorrow Never Knows".....I will stop now, but yea they are amazing!
Abbey Road, I think is their most complete album. It really brought everything together. It was their last recorded album together. It feels like it and is almost like a cumulation of all their experiences and skill set. Hater!! You just don't like old people's music.
I love the Beatles. I really do, I have their entire UK discography. Or is it US? I forget, but their albums for either country is radically different. Anyway, I love them and respect what they've done, but I don't subscribe to the thought that without the Beatles, music wouldn't be what it is today. Fuck, if that's the case, then we would have been better off without them. Wouldn't have any Katy Perry's or Good Charlotte's
It wouldn't be. Every action has a reaction. All those that have come before have helped shape what is today. Obviously corporations have a big say on that as well, and that is always the biggest conflict between a few major paradigms. If Buddy Holly or Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughn or Janis Joplin never died so young, things would likely be different too.
i love the beatles. I think my favourite album is Magical Mystery Tour, i love it. My favourite songs are A Day In The Life and I Am The Walrus. i'm yet to really get into the White Album and Revolver as of yet, but i love MMT, Abbey Road and Sgt. Peppers. They were a great band.
Meh. Respect them, yes. Like/enjoy their music? No. Except Yesterday and Come Together. I don't think they were as influential as people want to make out...
