Taylor Swift - 1989

Taylor Swift has announced that she will release a new album entitled 1989 on October 27, 2014. The album will see a complete departure from Taylor's country music roots, something rather unprecedented to the music world and fans alike. The album's title, 1989, refers to the year Taylor Swift was born, and the album is greatly influenced by 80's pop music. The first track to be lifted from the album, "Shake It Off", was released yesterday and has practically set the music world on fire, with writers and listeners expressing rather polarized reactions to the new track. The bridge follows the new standard formula of having a female "spoken word/rap" verse which just doesn't work that well for this song.

The first couple of seconds remind me of Sour Cherry by The Kills. It's a catchy song, I like it. Except that bridge.

I wanted to hate Shake it Off so much, but I can't. It's too damn fun.

 

"Shake It Off" is ok. It's getting mixed reactions from her usually devout fanbase though.
