Just wondered what everyone's thoughts are about Taking Back Sunday? I've been listening to them all night, and I think I'm really starting to like them.
Their songs are all alike, but then again, I am a Linkin Park fan, so who am I to complain about that. The lead singer's voice sounds great when actually singing, but the person who screams is horrnedous. A lot of their songs have one sound in the beginning, but then morph into a completely different song by the last minute. "This Photograph Is Proof" is an example. In the beginning, it's like alternative rock, but by the end, it's made a 360 by becoming this grungy hard rock. The only songs I like by them are "A Decade Under The Influence" and "This Photograph is Proof."
But I agree with the voice statement. I think Lazarra's voice is amazing, but the other guy's isn't. As far as Lazarra's whole "teen idol" thing, he beats the living crap out of Bert McCracken. At least the man looks like he's taken a shower in the past month.
I've been a fan of their music for a couple of years now. I own both of their albums and I think they're a pretty good band. I can't wait until their next album comes out, whenever that will be.
It all goes back to The Used, doesn't it Branden? *points to Random Thoughts* [/b][/quote] Is it pretty well visible that I have a personal vendetta against all things The Used?
Why? The Used is a great band! Back on to topic, Taking Back Sunday is one of the best bands out there right now, right after Linkin Park and The Used.
ya, why r u guys bashing the used, there awesome. They may have gone a little softer by playing all their non-heavy songs at concerts, because i saw them in concert last night and found this out, but they still put on a solid show
I suppose I dislike The Used because I don't understand how they could be such a big thing in music. I guess I still believe too much that music will get better, and seeing things like that just annoys me. I guess it also angers me that there is so much more complex and more well-written music out there that no one will ever hear, yet a band like The Used gets airplay on TRL like no one's business. I just really don't think that The Used are very good musicians in general. It's essentially a man with a terrible voice squealing over a drum rhythm (which I guess is Guns N' Roses minus the guitar solos.) Essentially every Used song that I've heard consists of Bert McCracken squealing out metaphors that make no sense over a guitar that's hard to hear, a bassist dancing around with no real purpose, and a drummer playing the same basic rhythms throughout the song. I just plain don't like them, that's all. I'm not insulting anyone who does like them, hell, a girl that I'm beginning to fall in love with absolutely loves them. But, I just can't stand them.
Sorry for double posting everyone, but Branden, on your MySpace it says that you like The Used, what the hell?!
I think they're heaps awesome, I've liked them for a while. I've got both of their albums. I'd be awesome to hear new stuff from them.
