If I saw any topics about System of a down than I would have asked this question in it.

I'm really interested in buying a System of a Down album, but I have limited funds, so out of the 3 (I think) albums they have put out, which of them is the best and I should buy? Thanks

Is the self titled one the one with the track "Spiders"?

Yes, but I prefer "Toxicity" over the self-titled. Also, "Steal This Album!" is not an actual album. The only new song on STA! is "Boom!" Every other song is either a b-side from "Toxicity" or just unreleased tracks.

"Toxicity" was pretty good. "Aerials" is my fave song, and "Toxicity", "Needles", "Chop Suey" and "Jet-Pilot" are also great.

Their self-titled without a doubt. People who don't have that album and have Toxicity don't know how much they are missing! Every song on SOAD is awesome....one of my fav. albums of all time.

Exactly. The other 2 albums are nothing like self-titled, SOAD was the greatest back in 1997(?) when they released that album. I think I was in 4th grade, and I had no idea what they were talking about, but it was great, and is still great to this day.

I am curious about their new album though, apparently they are going more progressive :shifty: I really like that they are saying this because I always thought that SOAD themselves had the talent to get even more complex so I hope they really push themselves this time around! :D

I see, so it's an almost tie between "Toxicity" and the self titled. I think I'll get the self titled, to see how they've started out, and I've only heard one song from them and that was "Spiders".

If you like Spiders, I'm pretty confident you'll enjoy the entire CD. Not a song on there that I don't like.

Toxicity is one of the only albums I own that truly deserves to be referred to as "all killer, no filler".

There may be a couple of songs on there that'll take a few listens to really enjoy. Especially the crazy short songs like Cubert and Ddevil! And also their 6-minute song "Mind", which is really dissonant, but after a few listens it became my favourite song on the album. Ones that will stick into your head right away will be Sugar, Spiders, War?, Soil, and P.L.U.C.K.

    Enjoy! :D

Self-titled, that's it. Toxicity had some songs that are jaded and repetitive
