Okay, my friend just got 5.1 surround sound for his computer, and the two back speakers aren't working. It says they are connected and all, but no sound will come out of them. Any idea why?

Hm, maybe those speakers are not plugged in where they're supposed to..
and did you plug in them in the '5.1 channel input'.

He has an integrated soundcard and only has the three slots (line in, line out and microphone). he says it can do the 5.1 surrround though, and since it is only one set of speakers not working, I think it is capable to.

Okay, but I've connected my sound card to a subwoofer
and there I've got a 5.1 channel input with 6 slots for the speakers
and there's also a stereo input there.
And my surround system works fine..

    well, good luck fixing it.

Thanks. I was shocked too when I only had three inputs, but my friend insisted it was 5.1 and I think I agree.

it can't be surround sound if there's only one "line out" jack. The only way to get surround sound with one jack is using optical.
