superman: the movie

aparently after years and months of talks, its seems that we finally are going to have a superman movie, which is going to be directed by McG ( cant stand him personally) Stan Winston has just signed on to create the costume ( those who dont know this guy created the models for both the Terminator and Alien films) and ESC the team behind the matrtix effects are going to be involved in the special effects, The role of Luis Lane is aparently tied between Rose Byrne ( half naked slave in troy) and Selma Blair, Topher Grace ( that 70s show dude ) and Adam Brody is up for Jimmy Elson (personally I hope it goes to Adam Brody. Now I suppose you want to know who is to be playing Clark Kent , well it turns out that it is Ashton Kutcher ( IM kidding, please put down that knife) Clark is going to be played by Henry Cavill whom I think is such an awsome choice for Clark, I remember him seen him in the Film I capture the castle with my mates, and one of them said he reminded him of a young Christorper Reeves. ( trust me this guy is perfect) much like Bale is perfect for Batman.

OK check this out apparently Jonny Depp did a screen test to play Lex Luthor and he ( of course kicked ass in it) but they want him to play Jor El instead. The script is apparently really crap with is cluttered with Action scenes and no decent story ( I think I now know why McG wanted this project, hello Charlies Angels 2 anyone). botton line Im glad that they finally got a decent cast for this film. expect this film to come out no later than 2006.

 

Rose Byrne also played Dorme` in Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones (she died during the assassination attempt on Senator Amidala). She looks alot more like Lois Lane (to me) than Selma Blair.

 

i thought Keanu Reeves was playin supaman angelina jolie had the lead role for lois lane? wat was your source Kaleb.09?

So Anthony Hopkins dropped out of the role of playing Jor El? I guess he left the project once Brett Ratner dropped out of directing it. :wth:

I heard they even considered not letting Superman do any actual flying to make it more "realistic" or was that only back when Nicolas Cage was supposedly attached to the project? I am so behind with this movie.

 

No Hopkins is locked to play Pa Kent, not jor el

 

Okay, I don't regard this as official, but according to TeenHollywood.com, they announced that Jake Gyllenhaal will be the one to play Clark Kent/Superman and that Keira Knightly and Beyone are considered for the role of Lois Lane. I don't really believe this, but you can read the article here.

That's a relief. I think he's too young to play Superman anyway. What would you think of Tom Welling playing Superman since he's already playing Clark Kent on Smallville? I doubt it's going to happen though, but just a thought.

 

I agree I think personally it would be a career killing move if Jake was to play superman, (besides he has that sort of Dark sort of feel to him like when he played Donnie Darko , you knew he was just perfect) I feel he would have made a better Bruce wayne than clark kent. Tom Welling I think would be reluctant to be in a superman film, I dont see him wanting to be typecast all the time

aparently this week they will be doing screen test on 6 canidates who one of them will be the next superman, Jake Gyllenhaal is not one of them (thank God, as I think he is currently shooting that gay cowboy film with Heath Ledger wich is directed my Ang Lee)
